Sandra Fluke, whom feminists had touted as the voice of a new generation, got the silent treatment from a bored and lackadaisical audience of college students during a 45-minute speech at Northwestern University on Monday night.
Fluke reportedly fumbled awkwardly as the young adults ignored her verbal cues for their participation.
“I have to tell you that here in Illinois, the number one point on the agenda is – ” she said, expecting a rousing reply. In time, she whispered her own answer, “Gay marriage.”
“I can tell you’re passionate by your response,” she joked after deafening silence.
Fluke told the crowd they were part of a new, “pro-equality coalition” that powered Barack Obama to re-election and would keep America moving leftward, to their manifest indifference.
Seemingly acknowledging the unpopularity of her robust, socially liberal agenda, the feminist activist said the president's window of opportunity is closing.
“The thing about it is, we don’t have that much time,” she said. “When the electorate puts progressives into office, you get a certain amount of time to really deliver on what you promised before everybody decides to go back to the, ‘This isn’t working for me. I’m going to switch strategies again.’”
The inaction calls into question either how passionate students are to redefine marriage, or how engaging Fluke is as a speaker.
Her hosts appreciated her effort. “I thought that her message was great,” said Adam Roth, president of Northwestern University Campus Democrats, which invited Fluke to campus. He noted since 2012, both Obama and Fluke are “focused much more on social issues.”
Fluke said last May she had been urged to run for office and would entertain the possibility.
“We need more Debbie Wasserman Schultzes,” she said.
But first she has to keep an audience awake.

Any college having her speak is akin to a physics department inviting an alchemist.
These college kids are facing the fact that there effort at obtaining a degree will be a waste due to the economic crisis — last thing they wanted to hear was how the leftist agenda is the correct agenda - where all indicators are a “smash in the face” that leftest are wrong. I’m sure they were very happy to hear that the door is closing on Obama, the Left, and the prospect that the US economy will halt in the ineffective direction that it is now heading and will reverse...I guess the Freshmen will have a happy graduation in 3 to 4 yrs...if the Left keep getting voted out of office in mass!

The massive manipulation by the Obama Admin, along with it’s sycophant Media, was an appalling embarrassment to this once great country. That the masses would buy into such ridiculous assertions, War on Women etc., says a lot about the Education in this country. Which has only gotten worse since Arne Duncan has taken the helm. The window is closing on our country. Do enough people care to fight these destroyers?

Really, I WANT MY MONEY BACK. These are political issues so if she is getting a grant, why is that prosecutable as they are lobbying with MY TAX MONEY.

Fluke’s presentation style could put a brick to sleep and she is about as dumb as a box of rocks. Imagine if she had completed her law degree and was presenting in court... jurors would have to be given amphetamines to stay awake. However Fluke is the darling of liberals...the new Obama woman enjoying her free birth control while adoringly gazing on the Dear Leader’s picture. I am certain she will be running for Congress from whatever state with the most low information voters that the DNC thinks she might have a prayer of getting elected.
She sure is trying to milk her 15 minutes of fame.
