Here's an "Idiot's Guide" to clear up what can only be called either your clinically profound confusion or ideologically deliberate obfuscation. You are in quotes & I'm in red. Keep on reading to either see the light or realize that your attempt at "open borders" propaganda is backfiring and quit making a fool of yourself:

"1, 1 million a year is not going to bring about this result."
1) Can you even add?
1 million/year legally from 2013-2050 = 37 million
1 million/year illegally from 2013-2050 = 37 million
That's 74 million WITHOUT counting the relatives those legals will get to petition for now and those illegals will get to petition for if they are legalized... AND all the children they'll have here.

"2, If they are so poor as you claim - they will not have the means to come to America, nor will they leave."
2) Such thoughtless foolishness.
The billions of dollars a year in remittances sent back home by foreign born relatives/friends here (which the likes of you have welcomed) is financing the continuing invasion of illegals into this country.

"3, This ‘hellhole’ of China and Mexico, China has a space program."
3) Laughable!
And North Korea has a nuclear & ballistic missile program. What the hell has that got to do with the poverty of the vast majority of its people.

"4, The vast majority of American immigration (both legal and illegal), comes from hellholes like Mexico, Canada and the Phillippines. All fellow Christian countries with significant legal and historical ties to the United States."
4) Come from Canada? Are you truly that oblivious?
According to DHS published statistics for 2010, of the 1,042,625 legal immigrants for that year, 19,491 were from "Canada & Newfoundland." Mexico accounted for 138,717 legally and half of the 1 million illegal entries.

"6, Does it matter where they come insofar as they contribute? This is why legal immigration is so important - if they are here to contribute then they can follow the correct process."
6) "They are here to contribute." To which country?

In a Zogby poll of Mexicans (LINK):

Do you agree or disagree that the territory of the U.S. Southwest rightfully belongs to Mexico?
Agree: 58 percent
Disagree: 28 percent <= *
Not sure: 14 percent
Do you agree or disagree that Mexicans should have the right to enter the United States without U.S. permission?
Agree: 57 percent
Disagree: 35 percent <= *
Not sure: 7 percent
*This means only 28% of Mexicans believe that the U.S. Southwest belongs to the US (not Mexico) and only 35% of Mexicans believe that Mexicans do NOT have the right to enter the US as they please.

According to another Zogby poll of Mexican-Americans – including those born in the United States (LINK):

When asked “Should the primary loyalty of Mexican-Americans be to Mexico or to the U.S.?” 68.8 percent of respondents said that it should be to Mexico.

When asked, “If the U.S. gave permanent legal status to undocumented immigrants (migrantes indocumentados), do you think it would make your friends and family members more likely or less likely to go to the U.S. as indocumentados, or would it make no difference?” 56.2 percent of respondents answered “more likely.”

AND THAT'S WHAT THE SUICIDE OF A NATION LOOKS LIKE!

“The billions of dollars a year in remittances sent back home by foreign born relatives/friends here (which the likes of you have welcomed) is financing the continuing invasion of illegals into this country.”

Do you have a problem with illegal immigrants, or do you have a problem with remittances? Remittances are sent home by legal immigrants who earn money in America by working. Is this a problem for you? If so, why?

If they are illegal, then remittances aren’t an issue. They should be deported and sent home.

“all the children they’ll have here”

Do you believe that first-generation American citizens should be deported from America to the home country that their parents came from?

“What the hell has that got to do with the poverty of the vast majority of its people.”

The point being that immigration to the United States is not at the level that you portray it as, nor is everyone in these countries going to give up the life that they do have to come to America. For one, America isn’t even the closest destination - there are other places that provided a similar enough standard of living which are far, far closer.

The immigrants that America tends to get, legally and illegally, tend to be geographically close to America, (Mexico and Canada) or to share ties with America through other means, (Philippines). I notice you entirely ignored my point about the Philippines.

“They are here to contribute.” To which country?

Legal immigrants? To America?

See, here’s what I think.

You don’t like Immigration. It doesn’t matter whether it’s legal or illegal. Your opposition to illegal immigration is a smokescreen. You don’t care whether they do or do not have papers, just that they aren’t from America. You don’t like the fact that immigrants can and do come to America, while Americans are out of work. You believe that unless every American has a job that legal immigrants have no place here.

Is that correct? If that’s not so, then please explain how I have pegged you incorrectly. It’s not an either or preposition. Legal immigrants who work and come to America help Americans get and keep jobs. They create jobs (through demand), and they also produce jobs through their labour the same way that American citizens do. They bring investment into America too.

I agree that illegal immigration is a problem - and that if an Immigrant wants to come to America that they should be willing to support themselves, and not receive benefits from the state. I believe that very strongly. The problem isn’t the immigration - it’s the welfare state.

Try connecting my numbered answers to your numbered points or don’t bother responding. I will not waste my time with someone who can’t answer their own points when I refute them. You keep shifting ground as if you are too dumb or dishonest to do otherwise!

I’ve not seen you respond to a question. Ever.

Bless your heart. :)
