Connecticut pols strike deal to expand assault-weapons ban, restrict high-capacity magazines
"Connecticut lawmakers announced a deal Monday which would include a ban on new high-capacity ammunition magazines like the ones used in the massacre that left 20 children and six educators dead. The proposal includes new registration requirements for existing magazines that carry 10 or more bullets.
The package also creates what lawmakers said is the nation's first statewide dangerous weapon offender registry, creates a new "ammunition eligibility certificate," imposes immediate universal background checks for all firearms sales, and extends the state's assault weapons ban to 100 new types of firearms and requires that a weapon have only one of several features in order to be banned.
The newly banned weapons could no longer be bought or sold in Connecticut, and those legally owned already would have to be registered with the state, just like the high-capacity magazines."

This will be interesting to watch. Colt now cannot manufacture or sell normal mags, and will they register the ones they have in inventory they cannot sell? Will CT allow their sale across state lines?

Connecticut is a small State. Should be too hard to drive across the border and buy ammo.
But why would anyone want to live in such a repressive State.
I’m thinking that opening up an ammo store as close to the Connecticut state line would be most profitable.

Why spend millions of dollars to relocate just to have the feds come after you with the same rules that would make a business relocate in the first place? The gubmit relationship to American business is now like a Tonya Harding who can’t be arrested.
Good idea, unless you consider CT is bordered by NY and MA. Not sure where RI (the other border state) factors in. I left CT in 1981, myself. Beautiful place, nice folks, too bad about the local government.

The consumer boycott against S&W made them cry. Does Marlin and Mossberg get enough government contracts to survive a protest boycott?

And lets not forget one of the biggest accidents waiting to happen. Swimming pools. And here I thought we had reached the height of dumb assedness. Dumb asses (aka: radical left wing extremist demokkkrat scumbag socialists) always seem to be able to raise that bar don’t they?
They need to move south:
-Right to work states
-People who are willing to work for $10/hour and consider it good wages.
-Gun ownership is still legal and acceptable.

Conn has been my home for about 30 of my 43 years. I like much about the state, except the politics.
I think Colt, Sturm-Ruger, Mossberg, Marlin and myself ought to move the heck out. So sick of these idiots around me.

I believe that Ruger only has corporate offices remaining in Connecticut. Their manufacturing is in Prescott, AZ.
Of course, New York gunmakers could be asked the same questions. I see no reason to put money in the coffers of anti-gun states through corporate taxes.
The CIvil War between the gun states and the no-gun states will be pretty one-sided.
People are gonna continue buying their choices in firearms while they still have the chance. Nobody's going to make the choice to punish any of the firearms makers you mention over the stupidity of a bunch of yankee politicians.
If anything, Colt, Ruger, et al will just move their manufacture of standard capacity magazines somewhere else, or they'll just outsource that part of the business.
