Cruz just came out supporting major parts of Rubio’s disastrous amnesty bill.

Who cares what a radical leftist like Brooks thinks?

I used to listen to "conservative" David Brooks debate Liberal EJ Dionne on NPR.
On many occasions, EJ Dionne would make some feeble effort to criticize Obama, saying that he might have fallen short of perfect in some recent political endeavor. Brooks would jump in and disagree and indicate that Obama had handled the situation exactly right.

A complete boot licker.

The major part of Amnesty should be close the borders for a year and then lets talk about it.

Nothing should be done until we prove we can stop this mess from happening again.

Not good enough IMO. We’re talking about something like 30 million illegals, already, let alone the kin they’d have following in chain migration.

The majority of them are on some sort of welfare, have immediate affirmative-action preference status over the majority of our own citizens, come from countries that regularly vote Marxists into office, are ill-educated and have a majority of births out of wedlock, even after three generations have been in the country.

Also, nearly half are here on overstayed visas, rather than by having slipped through our porous borders. Seal the border and kick out those who are here. Our country simply can’t afford to important such a third-world population.

I absolutely am not a troll or passing on misinformation. He’s been dodging a position on Rubio’s massive amnesty bill and finally came out yesterday only opposing the citizenship portion of the bill because that jeopardizes getting it passed. Here are the last two paragraphs of the article that Chief901 references:

Cruz said he hoped the “reform legislation will not be held hostage to an issue that is deeply, deeply divisive, namely a pathway to citizenship.” He said it was his hope that Congress could pass a bipartisan bill addressing areas of common agreement like “securing the border, improving legal immigration, improving agricultural workers to ensure that we have workers who are here out of the shadows, able to work legally.”

“In my view, that’s how we get something done—we focus on areas of agreement, not on areas of disagreement, and I’m hopeful that over the course of consideration, we’ll see some consensus come together to do exactly that,” he said.

I believe this would be the third Amnesty.

How many more will there have to be if the Borders are not closed?

We must secure the Border.

Just as the war on drugs cannot be won because too many make money off it, the closing of the border cannot be done because too many make money off illegals.

Politicians are paid by lobbyists, in one way or another. They don’t get rich off their salaries.

Secure the border—and send them home.

David, you have no cred.. But thanks for playing.

Or, we could just simply adopt Mexico’s immigration policy. It is better than our own and the Progs could not accuse us of racism.

Yep. Mirror back all countries immigration policies to their citizens and we’d probably be in pretty good shape—certainly re: Mexico.

“I believe this would be the third Amnesty.”

Actually, it’s the 8th or 9th.
Stunning, isn’t it? Add to that the ‘dream act’ by Obama.

The Seven Amnesties Passed by Congress

Since the passing of the Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA), 6 million illegal aliens have received amnesty in the United States. The IRCA Amnesty was supposed to “wipe the slate clean” and instead it’s lead to the current situation of 12-20 million illegal aliens living in the country.

1. Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA), 1986: A blanket amnesty for some 2.7 million illegal aliens
2. Section 245(i) Amnesty, 1994: A temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens
3. Section 245(i) Extension Amnesty, 1997: An extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994
4. Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty, 1997: An amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America
5. Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA), 1998: An amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti
6. Late Amnesty, 2000: An amnesty for some illegal aliens who claim they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty, an estimated 400,000 illegal aliens
7. LIFE Act Amnesty, 2000: A reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty, an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens

I don’t know what you classify as dodging, Senator Cruz has opposed amnesty for Illegal Aliens (undocumented democrats) since he ran in the primary.

That and many other things is why I voted for him in the primary, the run-off and the general election. He takes a stand and is not one bit wishy-washy about that stand.

He did oppose it, but now he is for it, except via Rubio’s massive bill, except for some quibbles re: granting citizenship, because, as he explains, that makes it harder to get the monstrosity passed right now and, oh, wanting a few more pretty-please promises about securing the border.

He was against it, but is now pro-amnesty.
