“Gotten Away”? Yes, they likely would have been caught... BUT - I doubt it would have been all that difficult to drop a backpack and walk away, dial a cell # and boom. Literally less than 1 minute operation.
Yes - there is security and surveillance - but when one only needs seconds... The authorities are minutes away.

Of course terrorists are going to attack new york. Since new yorkers have proven they will let effeminate little trolls like bloomberg and pugnacious blowhards like coumo bully them around and dictate every detail of their lives, it’s not like they’ll expect anyone there to fight back.
We learned from the last attempt that Times Square is under constant surveillance and police are always on scene. NYPD is much bigger and is on a different level when it comes to counter-terror.

The last Times Square attempt was a guy parking a FRICKIN SUV in the square and running off. Even though you aren't even allowed to stop in the square, the SUV packed with explosives wasn't noticed by police. A street vendor (a Nam Vet) called the cops over when they saw smoke and heard firecrackers. Many minutes later. The only reason it didn't blow is because it was a dud.
A bomber leaving a pipe bomb or 5 all over the square would never be caught in time. They'd just drop it disguised as trash, push a button and BOOM.
Yea, right. After the Boston bombing, NYPD sees two guys with backpacks who happen to look like the photos spread all over the country and they’re just gonna let ‘em waltz into Times Square and drop bombs.
Times square is very very crowded and there are people walking through with backpacks and big bags all the time. Often in groups. These guys could have taken a train in from almost anywhere and popped up right in the square. It’s impossible to observe every single person with a bag in the square.
It’s also not that hard to disguise yourself but these guys clearly did not do so in Boston. If they did use even a simple disguise, we likely would still be looking for them and they would have hit NY. Easily.
Most attacks have been foiled because of the terrorists’ stupidity, not because of cops or surveillance.
