Apologies for the lateness of this article, but real life (in the form of my central heat/air dying) put a huge crimp in my writing time. This week’s Jerk of the Week is a no-brainer. First and foremost, RightWingPatriot.com is a staunch defender of the Second Amendment and believes that it is the right of every citizen to be armed. An armed citizen is a free man whilst an unarmed man is a subject. There is a huge difference between the two.
As it has been reported last week, Illinois passed a law allowing concealed carry. Illinois has the shameful distinction of being the last state in the USA to pass such legislation. The bill faced quite a bit of hurdles to become law, and chief amongst those was Governor Pat Quinn. This progressive liberal is your typical tax and spend Democrat and has night terrors at the mere thought of citizens actually choosing their own destiny. When the 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals declared Illinois’ ban on concealed carry as unconstitutional, Illinois scrambled to cobble together a bill. Pat Quinn wanted changes to the bill (namely to water it down) and vetoed it. The legislature voted 41-17 to override the veto and, surprisingly, the support was bipartisan.
Quinn whined about the veto override, “It’s very, very important that we protect the people. The legislation today does not do that. It has shortcomings that will lead to tragedies.” Hmmm…it seems that Quinn fears hordes of crazed law-abiding gun owners running rampant across his crime-free state. Oh wait! If my memory serves, and it does, Chicago is the murder capital of the world. Not just the USA, but the entire freaking world! Yes, it is more dangerous to live in Chicago than in the drug-cartel ravaged Mexico. Over the Fourth of July weekend in Chicago, 10 people were murdered and 75 others injured in gang-related violence. Overall, there is roughly one murder per day in Chicago alone. It seems that gangs and other criminals are well-armed, but law-abiding citizens were banned from owning guns. Who would have thought that criminals would prey upon the weak and helpless in such a manner? (Only progressive liberals think that they can eradicate criminal behavior by banning objects because miscreants will obviously follow the law as they’re just misunderstood.)
Guns give citizens the ability to defend themselves from criminals. Ask any perp in jail and they’ll tell you that the thing they fear most is the person they were planning to victimize having a firearm. Of course, none of this means anything to Pat Quinn and other progressive liberals. They despise the US Constitution and work to undermine our freedoms as they want to expand governmental control over every aspect of our lives. For not standing with the people of his state and with the thuggish elements, so long coddled by the left in Illinois, Pat Quinn is our choice for Jerk of the Week.
Come in without. Come on within. You will not see nothing like Unmighty Quinn (with apologies to Manfred Mann).
