Middle and high school students in San Diego, California will be encouraged to vent their frustration that the world lacks justice when they return to school and participate in the “Trayvon Martin dialogues” this fall.
The board of San Diego Unified Schools unanimously approved a proposal recently to establish classroom forums to discuss the death of Trayvon Martin, a black teenager who was shot during an altercation with a Hispanic man, George Zimmerman, in Florida last year. A jury recently acquitted Zimmerman, who claimed that Martin struck first and shot him in self-defense.
The sponsors of San Diego’s Trayvon Martin dialogues, however, believe the resolution of the case has produced in teenagers “feelings of fear, anger, and skepticism that they will live in a just society,” according to The College Fix.
The full proposal calls for forum participants to explicitly condemn “stand your ground” laws, which permit citizens to use force to defend themselves in dangerous situations instead of retreating. Florida’s law was erroneously credited with prompting the conflict between Martin and Zimmerman, though the matter never became a significant factor at the trial, since Zimmerman had no option to retreat, according to his official testimony.

I wonder if these forums will be used to incite violence and any student who agrees with the Zimmerman verdict or stand your ground laws will be targeted and will either change those views or be attacked?
Any student who tries that would be shouted down by the discussion group (moderator included). Just like the way the Bolsheviks shouted down their opponents.
But that wouldn't be the end of it. A student so bold as to challenge the PC line here would find himself on the receiving end of an attitude adjustment while on the way home from school.
It is important for conservatives to speak up. But one should not be splashing in the water when alone in the midst of hungry sharks.

Yep - that's the point of this nasty little plan. They want to create race riots by forcing hispanic children to accept and repeat that trayvon was a victim of a hispanic killer, despite the finding of a jury.

That is quite factually NOT a result of the case, it ia a result of the MASSIVE misrepresentation of the case by the media.
It was SO MASSIVELY misrepresented in the media that a black (Liberal) friend of my who is considering retiring this year remarked to me recently that he had considered retiring in Florida, in the past, but no longer as he “would have absolutely no rights there”.
I should link him up somehow to the opinions on that of our black GOP friends and reps in Florida.
Exactly. A dialogue means a two-sided discussion, not a one-sided essay contest.
