Russian female athletes defend their purely friendly, not gay, kiss

Russian female athletes Yulia Gushchina and Ksenia Ryzhova denied Western media reports that said that their kiss at the award ceremony of the 2013 Athletics World Championships in Moscow was an action to support sexual minorities.
"I did what everyone does on a pedestal," said Gushchina, having learned about the response of Western journalists to the photograph, on which the two athletes are shown kissing on a pedestal at Luzhniki stadium. According to her, the kiss was an expression of joy for the gold medal and nothing more.

That was it?? Have these “Western media” idiots never been around Russians and other Eastern Europeans? I was at a Serbian wedding last week. I saw plenty of kissing “in support of sexual minorities” there too. In fact, I did it a few times myself . /s

Looks like a kiss to the right of the lips, doesn’t look queer to me, or that they were making a statement.

Not necessary so. A sign of affection doesn't mean it is sexual especially in many eastern European cultures. Get a grip, just because it means something in the US doesn't mean it means the same thing in other cultures. Expand your horizons.
