Why ObamaCare could burn liberalism to the ground
canadafreepress.com ^ | 12/5/2013 | Dan Calabrese

The real danger for liberals with ObamaCare is not just that they passed a law that isn’t working as advertised. The truth is they do that all the time. The real danger is that they passed a law whose dysfunction directly touches the lives of so many Americans - meaning that in this case, the failures of big-government liberalism are plainly seen and known to everyone.

Big government functions in horrendous fashion with stunning regularity. The IRS abuses the rights of citizens. The State Department makes foolish deals with nasty regimes. Congress pisses away billions on subsidies that drive up food costs. Federal regulations add to the cost of gasoline while making it difficult to exploit natural resources on our own shores. The tax code wreaks havoc on the economy.

The difference is that, while you can read about all these problems if you’re interested, and you definitely feel the effects of most or all of them in one way or another, you don’t necessarily deal directly with the federal government on any of this. If the tax code depresses job growth, and you have trouble finding a job as a result, you know you’re having a rough time but you might not make the connection directly. If the store down the street is raising its prices because taxes and regualtions are driving up its costs, you know you’re paying more but you don’t necessarily know why.

Not so with ObamaCare. If you got a cancellation notice from your health insurance company, you know exactly why. If you went on HealthCare.gov and by some miracle managed to get through to look at the plans that are available - and were shocked by the premiums, you know exactly how that happened.

....no one in the Boobamba White House anticipated Obamacare would collapse so quickly. Some believed problems would surface only after 2014 midterms and that things would be too far gone by 2016 to make any changes----as Hillary sailed to victory. A groundswell of public support was supposed to materialize......sap-happy Obama figured he easily duped his "community" into thinking they could use food stamps to pay down subprime mtges. And besides, obeisant presstitutes would parrot his line that "things were just fine".....

Boomamba's spent his entire time in office using official govt activities and resources in hopes of building a permanent Dimocrat majority.

Too bad he stupidly threw a bomb into his plans........ w/ Obamacare.

LAUGH BREAK Team O musta been laughing up their sleeves as they connived to insert the infamous "cancellation clause" into O/Care---while planning to regurgitate the old Dem standby---blaming someone else---Repubs (and the insurance companies they unreservedly despise).

Now the stupids must be downing valium and vodka non-stop as we type---the lunkheads failed to factor in that Dems would take the fall at the polls---by the very people they intended to "punish" w/ cancellations ---- we, the voters.

Just call him "Wrong-Way Boobamba." Remember---he "vowed" to destroy the Republican Party----but he ended up destroying the Democrat Party, instead. Looks like he needs a new GPS system from Santa.

ROTFLOL.

==========================================

Egged on by pie-eyed Pelosi. Dimocrats rammed the monstrous Healthcare bill through on a straight party-line vote and refused to consider a single legislative change---including Mike Enzi's bill to allow Americans to keep their exisitng plans. Now desperate Democrats are frantically introducing “fix Obamacare” bills.

Dims want to separate themselves from their aye votes that they sold to push Obamacare onto unsuspecting Americans------ but they can't.

Republican strategists says ObamaCare “has the potential to be even more potent in 2014 than it was in 2010" (when Repubs took over the House) and that Democrats in competitive seats could see themselves washed out to sea.

Predictions are that the misguided law could get even worse for Dimocrats. “It’s like quicksand. It's sucking people in. And this is just one component. Just wait until the next piece of this law is rolled out,” strategists said.

====================================================

Now, a really, really big problem for Obama is that people still remember CHEAPER PREMIUMS BEFORE Obamacare. Then they're told Obamacare higher premiums are the real ones BUT NOT TO WORRY---they're getting subsidies as a "gift" from Obama.....

....but here's the kicker.....in politics, it's OK for a pol to be clever and come up with clever ideas. But pols can't "appear" to be clever. B/c the citizenry equates POLITICAL cleverness with deviousness. (George Will on Fox)

This poo-poos the AM talk radio theme that Obamacare was specifically designed to make Americans demand single payer.
Its amazing how what they say gets repeated here over and over.

Obamacare was designed to get a majority of votes by Dems in House and 60 in the Senate,
It was designed singularly to get a bill in law passed by Dems alone, not to work or not work.

A way better message than all the chatter on FNC and radio combined.

All this talk of Obama ushering in the end of liberalism is wishful thinking. As Mark Steyn commented several months back when subbing for Rush, “Liberalism permeates the very air we breathe”.

Does anyone really believe that? To kill the Zombie liberalism, one has to get by its vampire guards - PC, Multiculturalism and the MSM. No chance.

liberals by their very nature, are out of touch with reality. when big govt craters, so what?, where else do they have to turn? are they going to rely on themselves to improve their lot in life?

if they could do that, they would not be liberal to begin with.

Until now, many of us always realized there was some graft that goes along with any administration. We know that each President has their little pet projects, and there are some winners and losers. Sometimes, we feel an increase in taxes, other times, we pick up a few tax breaks. Most of that has been cyclical, until Obamacare. Obamacare touches lives, it touches families, and it seems there's little going back.

For those that didn't vote for this, and have had their policies cancelled, I feel for them. For policies that are available, they seem terribly expensive, and their coverage is still unknown and unproven. For those people who've had insurance, they're most likely going to replace it, making sacrifices where they can. But let's face it, some won't be able to afford their premiums and deductibles, and they'll also fall outside the "subsidy class." What will these people do?

I would like nothing better than warm my bare butt to the soldering ruin of liberalism, I know it won’t happen.

Liberalism is the operating system of pure evil, we can’t wipe that out.

“This poo-poos the AM talk radio theme that Obamacare was specifically designed to make Americans demand single payer.

While it has some obvious holes, the theme is seductive. This whole thing has gone and continues to go down in a way which was truly unbelievably incompetent...or nefariously clever. It is truly difficult to see people who can accomplish anything mess things up SO badly. While it was generally understood that this was a complicated endeavor, who doesn’t substantially test a program before releasing it as your signature achievement? Who goes ahead and releases it after it failing even the most basic tests...having forced millions to use it and be forced to recognize its failure? Who puts, with nomair cover, a hundred thousand soldiers in armored vehicles on a road across a plain with landlines on both sides during a war? (OK, that last was Sadaam, not Barak)

They did, after all, knowingly do many devious things along the way, like their “grandfathering” clause while knowing that it was largely inapplicable and for good measure making nearly universally inapplicable. That they inserted the cutout for unions shows they had just that in mind.

So how could they then turn around and be somspectacularly inept? The simplest explanation is that they couldn’t and it was a trick...but it seems that they in fact could.

The Republicans will do everything possible to prop this up and save liberalism even if it means signing up every illegal, non American, foreign language speaking ‘poor’ immigrant driving an Escalade.

Obama will not finish his term—one way or another the Democrats will dump him. It is that or go the way of the dodod bird. The Whigs will return and sweep them away. They must—and will—change. They love power more than an Ideology.

Exactly.
They wanted to get something through and get people were comfortable with the Govt plan move them into Single payer. The idea that after this fiasco they are going to be able to sell the public anything is foolish. This was never intended to happen and they are screwed and know it. The problem is the GOPe has no idea how to capitalize on it. They’re focusing their attention on amnesty. Friggen idiots

RE :”So how could they then turn around and be somspectacularly inept? The simplest explanation is that they couldn’t and it was a trick...but it seems that they in fact could.”

Comprehensive Health care reform was a major campaign promise to the lib base so Obama had to get something passed into law to get them to get out the 2012 vote, and it worked quite well in swing states esp with Hispanics.

Sure they wanted a single payer public plan, but the dynamics of GOP naturally attacking anything Dems passed was what Obama needed to get his base in line behind him (’get out the vote’).
So Obama just had to pass whatever he could to make it work(get re-elected).

None of this meant they could run anything this big anymore than GOP could.(As I said, look what a mess Iraq was)

Obama’s position is simple now.

Even if Dems get beat up in midterms as this disaster unfolds he can still stand with Obamacare and characterize the calls for repeal as ‘GOPs want to take away your health care’

So GOP has a great chance to use Dems own weapons against them, repeat and repeat :"Obamacare took away your health care"

I think you put too much faith in the intelligence of the voting public, as a whole.

RE :”They’re focusing their attention on amnesty. Friggen idiots”

I have not concluded that Bohner+club are serious about passing a immigration bill that reaches Obama’s desk.

I been suspecting for a while he is just head faking Hispanics to get them off his and vunerable house members backs. I am not sure but I strongly suspect it.

On MSNBC they been playing a captured vid of two young Hispanic girls or women harrasing Bohner at a store about the plight of their (illegal) relatives and pleading with him to help by passing reform in house.

Reid announcing that Bohner will cave is sign that he thinks the opposite as Bohner despises Reid.

Reid is not going to pass just any immigration bill, it must include citizenship for whoever gets the legalization..

Upper income taxpayers have the additional 3.8% Obamacare surtax on net investment income to thank Obama for. Independents and moderates love sin but hate taxes. Obamacare imposes higher insurance premiums and higher federal income taxes. We’ll find out whether they love sin more than they hate taxes in 2014.
