Lt. Col. Robert Bateman, the second amendment-hating Army Officer who caused controversy after vowing to “pry your gun from your cold, dead, fingers,” works closely with the Department of Homeland Security.

Earlier this week, Bateman, an active military commander, penned a piece for Esquire magazine in which he promised to push for a total ban on all firearms besides muskets, shotguns and rifles, and shut down all gun manufacturers except for those who produced weapons for the federal government and the armed forces (you will be disarmed, the state will have a monopoly on firepower).

Bateman is president and founder of Alliance Defense Marketing Associates LLC, a “global premier risk management” firm that does work for the DHS.

Bateman better not come to any part of MI. There is the possibility he espouses his talking points and he will end up taking a long walk on a very short pier.

FWIW, “who is LTC Robert Bateman?” results (no sorting):

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/g/Galloway-Pentagon.htm#.UqNF1hy16lM — 2007

http://2002-2009-fpc.state.gov/93202.htm — 9/20/2007: “We have Lt. Col. Bateman, who has served in Iraq in 2005 and 2006 on General Petraeus’s staff and is here a, as a journalist and as an author. He’s also an historian, a former professor of history at West Point.” ...

http://www.onthemedia.org/story/129397-the-making-of-a-hero/transcript/ — 4/27/2007: being interviewed re: Pat Tillman “We asked military historian and Army Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Bateman, speaking as a historian, not a military spokesman, to give us some perspective on hero making in other wars.”

http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/lieutenant-colonel-bateman-writing — ? 8/5/2013, LTC bateman writes personal info, eg, from Cleveland, etc:

“I have long thought that Tom Hanks was pretty cool... (When you wear Ranger Tab and Airborne wings you can confess to liking chick-flicks without giving up your dude card.) And as an episodic amateur actor (same rule applies) as well as a soldier and historian, I especially appreciated the depth he brought to his character in Saving Private Ryan. His involvement in historical and veterans’ affairs finally had me...When I learned that he also spent years in Cleveland, my hometown, I was won over...”

still considering “Who is LTC Robert Bateman?” >> Army Ranger, Airborne, served in Iraq:

So, LTC Robert Bateman, thanks for your service to this country. Why do you want to disarm its citizens, why such vitriol and distrust of your fellow citizens?

Which, btw, led full circle to the article in Esquire blog that led us to wonder “Who is this LTC Robert Bateman?”:

To: ilovesarah2012; Errant

Conclusions:

1) middle names or at least initials are very helpful.

2) This article references the wrong Bateman, as shown in the use of the photo of the older NYG Bateman rather than the one from Esquire, so this would seem to be incorrerct info re: DHS tie-in w/younger author LTC Bateman — unless he has some other relationship w/DHS.

Errant, thanks again for the photo in #24.

meant to ping you to above post; I’d been wondering who he is, as well, and what the heck kinda background does a guy, a veteran, have to end up with such vitriol and distrust of responsible fellow citizens. . . ?

Turning my Remington 700 from a feather weight into a bench shooter! That was my best shooting last year. (I am quite impressed with the factory accuracy of this old rifle my dad bought for me when I was 16 for $75!) Im still tinkering with the load and should have a new barrel by the time spring thaw rolls around.

Trying to increase my personal space out to at least 500 yards to keep assholes like this guy as far away as possible.

Agreed. The younger, regular Army one is the oath-breaker here. At least if he is the prolific writer on military subjects. If you go to the Esquire link and click on his name, it gives generates a list of his recent articles or posts. This oath-breaker is the guy who is the prolific writer, not the old doofus in the Guard.

A propos of nothing at all, if DHS and other feds can use pictures of citizens for target practice, is it OK for citizens to use pictures of proven oath-breakers for target practice? I’m thinking the answer to that would be a big NO: I know I would never do such a thing. But would it be OK for someone else?

So this guy that wrote this or gave the interview and opinion really is active duty?

Under normal circumstances, and in a law abiding administration, wouldn’t an active duty officer, or anyone else on active duty, writing an article such as this or any other politically charged opinion be assuring himself of a fast ticket out of the military or free room and board at Leavenworth and a sure direct path to a high level appointment in this administration?

I know that the caveat of “law abiding administration” is laughable.

Bateman is president and founder of Alliance Defense Marketing Associates LLC

An active duty Lieutenant Colonel with enough time on his hands to be the president of a consulting company?

A company that has contracts with the federal government?

This guy and his entire situation stinks to high heaven.
