Absolutely!
My preferneces are traditional carols as well as John Prine, old time country and some novelty songs.
I must admit Dominick the Christmas Donkey did grow on me...kinda like a wart.
Fatty Claus, Christmas in a Beer Joint, and Merry Chrismas from the Family are also favs. Oh and Cledus Judd...
Robert Earl Keen was in town last night playing at the Majestic Theater. I wish I could have gone. Funny story: On the way home from work yesterday I heard Merry Chrismas from the Family on the radio. Live version. I loved it! I knew the words of course and sang along. A few minutes later - a different station - a different live version.
Ahhh, the road goes on forever....
“...Dominick the Christmas Donkey...”
I nominated this one over on a similar thread at NRO the other day. I think it’s a regional hit, my daughter’s bf from college never heard it until he spent Christmas with us here in NJ one year.
He found it very amusing, but he only heard it one time!
The first hundred times hearing these pieces, I found them cute, but the novelty eventually wore off and "Enough is too much, already!" I am slowly learning tolerance of many things and patience from the Holy Spirit, He has not yet succeded in teaching me tolerance for these two songs!
