For global warming believers, 2013 was the year from Hell
Financial Post ^ | December 19, 2013 | Lawrence Solomon

2013 has been a gloomy year for global warming enthusiasts. The sea ice in the Antarctic set a record, according to NASA, extending over a greater area than at any time since 1979 when satellite measurements first began. In the Arctic the news is also glum. Five years ago, Al Gore predicted that by 2013 “the entire North polar ice cap will be gone.” Didn’t happen. Instead, a deflated Gore saw the Arctic ice cap increase by 50% over 2012. This year’s Arctic ice likewise exceeded that of 2008, the year of his prediction. And that of 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Weather between the poles has also conspired to make the global warming believers look bad. In December, U.S. weather stations reported over 2000 record cold and snow days. Almost 60% of the U.S. was covered in snow, twice as much as last year. The heavens even opened up in the Holy Land, where an awestruck citizenry saw 16 inches of snow fall in Jerusalem, almost three feet in its environs. Snow blanketed Cairo for the first time in more than 100 years.

If we did not have a crooked justice system Al Gore would be in jail for fraud.

Oh'...No

Al Gore should be hung for treason for what he has done to this country...

Just think where we would be today energy wise if "global warming" was never invented to make him rich...

Turns out the highest paid person at the EPA has been indicted for lying and pretending to work for the CIA and scamming the taxpayer to the tune of $1 M. He's apparently a global warming expert But he told his boss he was needed in Pakistan.During the times he was supposedly overseas doing CIA work he went to is home in VA and rode his bike, did housework, etc.

This is the kind of people these Global Warming activists are. They will lie, cheat, and steal to get taxpayer funds. Their motive is not science. It is to get as rich as the oil barons of whom they are insanely jealous.

I’m not so sure the news about arctic ice is accurate, the folks who track it don’t show the record ice the article talks about.

They are talking about two different things:

The sea ice in the Antarctic set a record, according to NASA, ...

In the Arctic the news is also glum. Five years ago, Al Gore predicted that by 2013 “the entire North polar ice cap will be gone.” Didn’t happen. Instead, a deflated Gore saw the Arctic ice cap increase by 50% over 2012.

That 50% increase is the largest one year recovery (from 2.2 to 3.6 million sq.Km). However, the current mid-December value of 10.9 has a long way to go to reach the record 15 million sq.Km of 1978.

In case one wonders how there could be undersea vents in the Arctic Ocean, part of the Pacific “ring of fire” extends up into the undersea parts off the coast of Alaska and Siberia.

And they have recently found volcanoes in Antarctica under the landward ice sheet that is causing melting. In spite of that, the seaward portion of the ice pack is NOT melting, but increasing.

“The North Pole is still there, and growing. BBC News reports that data from Europe’s Cryosat spacecraft shows that Arctic sea ice coverage was nearly 9,000 cubic kilometers (2,100 cubic miles) by the end of this year’s melting season, up from about 6,000 cubic kilometers (1,400 cubic miles) during the same time last year.

This came as a shock to researchers who saw Arctic sea ice coverage shrink to a documented low in 2012. However, now sea ice coverage has expanded to reach the sixth record low, according to AFP.”

Right, it’s up 50% after a “record low” last year, not a record high since 1979. It’s about 1.7 million sq km lower than 1979, according to the Cryosphere links I posted (assuming we can trust NOAA).

The Left has no memory, or has Stalinist memory, that the North Korean Kims have adopted, and Orwell described so well. History gets overwritten, on to the next cause.

If they put the word “believer” in the title then that tells you the subject is, well; subjective.

Any semantical argument is beside the point. The Arctic ice cap is 50% larger based on satellite data than last year. Your graphs just don’t tell the story of how big the ice coverage was last year at this time.

There’s no argument about that. The measurements by the satellites don’t lie. The article was correct when it said the ice cap is significantly larger (over 50%).

Period. The global warming government funded crowd is wrong.

There is no crisis.

It’s not a semantic argument. The graph I posted a link to shows that Arctic sea ice is below the average level. It also shows the deep low for 2012, and how that dip in ice level is over.

Yes, last year was a record low, and this year is 50% more than last year, but it is still below the average.

There is no crisis, yes, and Algor was wrong for sure.

Algore has grown filthy rich on business scams predicated on global warming. There’s plenty of material an honest prosecutor could make many fraud cases out of.
