The Japanese have some wonderful concoctions. When I was a young salaryman who had just been on the job for less than a year, I went to work one day with a terrible headcold. It was a busy time of year and all hands were needed on deck, sick or well.

One of the girls in the office asked me to give her 400 yen and she would be back with a concoction which would cure me. She left the office and showed up about 15 minutes later with a small (maybe 30-40 ml) brownish bottle of a cold brown liquid which she told me to drink.

Since I knew they weren't trying to kill me, I obeyed and gulped it down. It tasted like bilge water smelled but I was fully functional in about 15 minutes. It was one of those drinks which I'd seen sold out of kiosks in the platforms of subway stations. To this day, I have no idea what it was, but it worked wonders.

I would expect a country where you can buy whiskey out of vending machines on the street would know quite a lot about hangovers.

There is actually and easy? and rather inexpensive way to get there. A couple of years ago we flew to Canada, took Princes Cruise line up the Alaska coast, then they repositioned headed for The East and we stopped at Japan, Russia, South Korea, etc and the took a 4 day extension to Bejing. The cruise itself was around $2000 for 23 days and that included Alaska. I don’t think I can keep myself for that many days for $2000. But I will tell you there is nothing in the Berring Sea.

Now THAT is real Seoul Food!

To have with your Seoulmate, of course--unless your hangover is so bad that all you can do is Inchon...

Maybe I should work up a splitting headache so I can try out some of these cures.

It might have been “Royal Jelly.” I had a buddy that swore by it.

And also by the religion of Eckancar...

if you’re single, you try to balance the demands of the half dozen women who just texted you out of the blue all wanting to go on some sort of romantic Christmas date.

Too many women will make your head hurt.....and cause you to drink so you can forget about them.

It may have contained Royal Jelly which, as I understand, is a liquid extracted from beeswax concentrate. But that wasn't the only ingredient or it wouldn't have tasted like bilge water smells.

JFYI, I was in the import to Japan business. We had a number of North American and European companies try to sell us revolutionary new stuff containing the secret ingredient "Royal Jelly" as if it was something totally new to Japan. We just smiled and told them matter-of-factly how long the ingredient had been used in Japan.

It was Princess . The Alaska was the first part and then the repositioning the second. The downside is the Berring Sea, The quick time changes, and they do not stop at the biggest tour cities. The Bejing was an ad on, but included tours to the great wall and forbidden city.
