So all the electricity you paid for and put into the battery simply disappears. You waste the energy of charging the battery. But a gallon of gas is still a gallon of gas.

"Well you could keep warm when it starts to burn!"
The warm and fuzzy feeling you'd get by helping to save the planet ought to be enough.

Another bad week for the freaks who follow Al Gore . Only if you use logic. They simply believe. It's a religion to them, not a series of conclusions based on reason.

That’s a good way of putting it and the EV promoters never talk about that aspect.

If you’ve spent a bazillion dollars and this is what you have to show....It’s like that old Einstein phrase...which interpreted means....”You’re stuck on stupid”.

Just leave it running to keep the battery warm. /s

the Volt needed to burn gas at conditions of under 25 degrees I'd kill for it to be 25 degrees where I live. I'd be burning gas from October to March.

Just get a big towing vehicle with a car trailer, put your Volt on the trailer, drive rig from home to work, use Volt to drive from the trailer to your jobs parking space, total distance should be less than 100 yards in Arctic conditions.
thats about the only way to make it work say in Alaska other than towing an auxiliary power unit running on dino fuel, thats a generator, a heat exchanger, umbilical connections for hydronic heating.

So global warming would help this car become more efficient thereby preventing global warming which would decrease the efficiency of the care thereby increasing.............My head just exploded.

I drive 20 miles one way to work. I guess I would be stuck there....No, you'd just drive home on the gasoline engine.

I saw a Nissan Leaf in NH about a week ago (during the warm spell when it got close to freezing). It didn’t look like it was doing too well.
To: Spartan302
The volt has a gasoline engine. It is not an electric only car like the leaf. The article is discussing how far it travels before the gasoline engine has to kick in.
