The point of my comment was to make it look absolutely asinine to use in any adverse climate, especially a cold one.
If by some obscure chance I had a Volt say from a stupid moron relative that just croaked I would indeed make an episode of hauling the Dolt to work and then ceremoniously driving it the last hundred yards, just to rub it in the faces of those who actually own one, get the picture?
Wonder how many Volt owners are quietly bucking up for that Roadside Assistance rider now...
Ping.
Well, at least it'll keep you warm....................
Yes, I posted that article here at FR. The point of the article is that the Volt uses the gas engine in cold weather in spite of GM claims of the electric only miles driving.

It has a gasoline engine. It is not an only-electric car.
Car companies have to do something to meet arbitrary CAFE standards so they produce these golf carts. I would imagine heat is provided by electricity further reducing any usefullness.

Of course, idiots!
With the Volt, probably not. It can go a long time on the gas in the tank as long as it’s sitting idle. The battery just loses capacity due to the cold. The engine will cycle on and off to maintain the heat.
