"Any judgment of Israel's actions must start with this understanding: In the 65 years that modern Israel has been a nation, Israelis have endured attacks and slanders beyond counting and have never known a day of true peace." If you don't understand that, well ... you're a you-know-what. Yes, I believe you are.
how can Israel and the Palestinians find peace when Mssrs. Tibi and Abu Arar can't even stand listening to a 30-minute speech by a Canadian prime minister?
Exactly.

I can’t find anything I disagree with Harper on in the speech.

Basically, in Harper's formulation, you're an anti-Semite if you criticize Israel. And no, I don't believe I'm exaggerating. I'd like to hear Mr. Akin's thoughts if the words "Harper", "anti-Semite" and "Israel" were replaced with the words "Obama", "racist" and "the President".

The author is right, but not for the reason he thinks.

Indeed. Akin is a douche.

And having Stephen Harper at the helm for Canadians has been a blessing for that country.

Basically, in Harper's formulation, you're an anti-Semite if you criticize Israel. And no, I don't believe I'm exaggerating. That is not even close to what Harper said. Harper layed out several very reasonable litmus tests which I bet Mr. Akin and many of his colleagues fail. In Akin's mind he and his ilk are not anti-semetic just because they have come to the cultured, nuanced, well educated decision that Israel needs to be destroyed.

The significance of 2 arab muslims in the Israeli Knesset shows what a lie the apartheid accusation is.

You have no idea. Since 2008 Canada has been governed by a conservative economist and has reaped the benefits. In that time the US has been governed by a marxist community organizer. Do the math.
To: rickmichaels
Dominant neo-marxist left-wing media in Canada are in a seething mad rage at hearing this. Their animus is in overdrive.

"What else can we call criticism that selectively condemns only the Jewish state and effectively denies its right to defend itself while systematically ignoring or excusing the violence and oppression all around it?" Anti-semitism. "What else can we call it when Israel is routinely targeted at the United Nations and when Israel remains the only country to be the subject of a permanent agenda item at the regular sessions of its human rights council?" Why, anti-semitism, of course.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper is right on the above... He's calling it like it is...

You have no idea. I have a very good idea. My pension is from working in Canada, and its value in US dollars has appreciated very much during the Harper years.
But I hear that Canadians are looking forward to having another Trudeau to be its leader. That is as crazy as what New Yorkers have just done.

Baby Trudeau will not become PM. Even the dullest realize he is simply a dilettante, playing at politics.
