NFL Commissioner offers a brilliant plan to fix what ain’t broke

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has decided that fans are not getting their money’s worth from the nation’s most popular spectator sport. “You want to add excitement with every play,” said the concerned commissioner of the 256 regular season games plus playoff contests played this season.

His solution–make extra points automatic. But if a team decides to go for 2 and fails, the gimmie extra point will be taken away, leaving a 6 rather than 7 point score.

In the 2013 regular season exactly 5 extra point tries failed. Five! In short, the extra point is already automatic. And when a team fails in a bid to score 2 points...

“You want to add excitement with every play”

If every play is exciting, no play is exciting

They should expand the Playoffs so even teams with 6-9 records could get in.

Or just allow half the teams in. Just like the NBA. 8^(

Goodell is a nitwit and will go down as the NFL’s worst commissioner ever. He’s already pansified the game enough...

Certian NFLPA union members will go on “strike”.

In almost every team statistical situation, the kicker is the highest scoring team member and for salary considerations, almost everyone of them opt for an incentive based on their TOTAL YEAR END numbers. In the end, they get paid WELL ABOVE the minimum contract level of their team-mates.

Roger, Listgen closely....eliminating the PAT will see a lowered percentage of field goals made. Guaranteed.

If the NFL wanted to reduce injuries, they could make all the players wear smooth-bottom penny loafers and soak the field before every quarter.

That would slow things down quite a bit. Hell, you might start to see more.... “players with less physical ability” in the game.

Sorry. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has decided that the NFL is not getting all it can from ad revenue so he will attempt to create another little hole where 60 seconds of ads can run.

If he succeeds in getting the kickoff eliminated, he'll have an entire 3 minute block that did not exist before.

Follow the Benjamins.

His solution–make extra points automatic.

I'm OK with that.

But if a team decides to go for 2 and fails, the gimmie extra point will be taken away, leaving a 6 rather than 7 point score.

Too confusing. Sounds like a government regulation. Just let the team run or pass for one more point.

I know one thing, regardless what happens during NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s workday, he gets to go home to Jane Skinner every night. So how can he have a ‘bad’ day?

Make football exciting?

1. No huddle.
2. 20 seconds between plays
3. Legalize forward lateral

I think every play should be reviewable, but with a VERY short time - 25 seconds - to do it. So it will work for obvious missed calls and real close calls will simply stand.

That's pretty idiotic if the plan is to make more exciting plays.

They should expand the Playoffs so even teams with 6-9 records could get in.

The 2010 Seahawks made it in with a 7-9 record (6-9 is impossible with 16 game sched.), and some people want MORE.

if they wanna make it exciting just take away the helmets, its a win-win-win.

1. The helmet wont be used as a weapon

2. the players get to let everybody see what they look like (thats a big one with black players)

3. no more concussions

Problem solved.

It costs an average of around $4,300 to go to the Superbowl. And only about 1% of the “public” gets a chance to buy tickets. Yet the NFL is a non-profit.

Goodell is an idiot...

There are a lot of moving parts on a PAT and the reason more are not missed/blocked is because of RULE CHANGES...

How many field goals inside the 20 were attempted/missed? Should those be automatic as well?

This coming from the guy who was instrumental in playing the game in NY in Feb.... pure genius...

Leave the game alone, Roger... You’ve done quite enough...
