What's going on in the - we believed free - world?
If you look around you, you see more and more people forbidden to enter a country, put in jail or out of business just for expressing their opinion. I agree that nobody should publicly insult individuals or groups with no good reason, but there's a fine line between exposing a wrong-doing and offending the wrong-doer.
In Britain, the new counterjihad party Liberty GB's Radio Officer Tim Burton is on trial for calling Fiyaz Mujhal on Twitter “a lying Muslim scumbag”. Mr Mujhal, founder and director of Tell MAMA (Measuring Anti-Muslim Attacks), had been revealed to report misleading facts and figures about presumed "Islamophobic" incidents and his organisation's public funding had been discontinued because of it.
American campaigners Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller, international icons of resistance to Islamisation, have been barred from Britain exactly because they oppose Islamisation.
Now I read that in the country of the maple leaf the Free Dominion website, which is the Canadian equivalent of the USA's Free Republic, for which I write, has 5 days ago been put practically out of business by a court order.
Apparently Free Dominion offended Richard Warman, a "human rights" lawyer nicknamed "Canada’s Hatefinder General" by Mark Steyn, who describes his operational style thus:
As eventually emerged at a Canadian "Human Rights" Tribunal hearing, he adopts Internet disguises and posts as a "hatemonger" on so-called "hate sites", and then sues those sites. Mr. Warman joined Stormfront and other “white supremacist” websites and posted copious amounts of hate speech of his own, describing, for example, Jewish members of cabinet as “scum” and gays as a “cancer.” That’s how “hateful” Canada is: there’s so little “hate” out there that the country’s most famous Internet Nazi is a taxpayer-funded civil servant.This reminds me of a similar comment by Tim Burton about Tell MAMA's alleged augmentation of anti-Muslim crimes described above:

As is the habit in the American system, he will most likely be prevailed upon to cop a plea in return for a reduced sentence. And everyone else will get the message: If you make a film or write a book attacking Obama, make sure it's a flop - or anyway not so big a hit it catches the regime's eye.

A prosecution system that involves mind reading cannot end well

Not the first time, and if the content in the post is good enough I will sometimes click on the blog to check it out. Not so with the obviously pimped excerpted ones.

What should I have said, he (I assume Enza (Enzo's brother perhaps?) is a man)? He posted his blog post here. Why? Obviously to get hits on his blog but he was very conscientious about doing it and did it right as far as I can tell. I looked up the synonyms for pimp and came up with:
Blog hustler
Blog mack
Blog panderer
Blog whoremonger
Any of those strike your fancy? Blog pimp is an appropriate term, it's the accepted form and whether done correctly as this author did or incorrectly as so many others have done, it's still pimping a blog. Take a glance at what humblegunner does when the blog pimp excerpts their own blog; it's not pretty but it needs to be done.
Jim Robinson created a place for blogs, he allows their posts, FR is a pretty influential website so in essence, by pimping a blog here, you get free airtime. If it's OK with the big guy himself, then I have no problem with it when it's done correctly. If for this wonderful free service, the author has to endure the tyranny of being called a blog pimp, well, that's a pretty cheap entrance fee.
Tell you what, you come up with another, non offensive term for correctly done blog pimping and I'll consider using it. Although the idea of people being offended by a word is offensive to me.
We've gone way overboard trying to salve the psyches of the perpetually offended whether it's by the horror of a Cross or a prayer or criticism of our tinpot dictator. I've read the Constitution and I don't remember reading that you have the right to not be offended. We're drowning in political correctness and it's all one-sided. Remember the names George W. Bush was called, Bushhitler, Chimpy, Shrub and on and on, it was said by the left that dissent is patriotic. Now try using anything like that on our dear leader and the howls of protest go up and the race card is dealt and played. PC needs to be stamped out.
