Highest in our history as a nation.

I find that hard to believe considering that only Native Americans were originally “born” here.

Wrong. The so-called Native Americans came over the Siberian land bridge to get here. Man started migrating from the Great Rift Valley in Africa over 1.5 million years years ago into Europe, Asia and only 80,000 years ago into the Americas. Almost every country in the world is a nation of immigrants.

FYI: 85% of the people living in the US were born here. We are not immigrants,

Reagan was an aberration. Aside from he and Coolidge, skunks were the standard from the beginning of the twentieth century until the present.

I hate to diaagree but the 70’s were nothing compared to today. Economically it was bad but the politics are way different.

People are openly talking about Civil War in the grocery store. Everybody is gunning up. 92 million people are out of work and we have a president who says its not a bad thing because now they will have a chance to enjoy their life more. Our debt is out of control. A silent communist coup is taking place before our eyes. I predict if Barack Obama is not removed from office we will be in a civil conflict within the next 2 years.

No this is not the 70’s.

Those tribes and groups aren’t large enough and smart enough to survive among they truly feral elements in this world. They don’t have the capacity to run this country, they only can react with the basest of motives, and their rule won’t last.

The failure by the U.S. Senate to convict Bill Clinton after his impeachment by the House was the first signal that the rule of law might not matter any more. These days, the law seems to be whatever Barack Obama and Eric Holder want it to be.

The rule of law is the only thing that saves us from the pitchforks and nooses of an Ochlocracy. A Republic only lasts as long as the time those in authority respect the law and honor their oath to uphold it. Such is not the case anymore. When a selected group of individuals, in this case Obama, Holder, and Reid take it upon themselves to decide which laws will be enforced and which ones will not, the Republic no longer functions. They took an oath to uphold the law, not make the laws on their own.

2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

The above describes the Obamanation to a tee. We’re in the midst of a profound “falling away,” and we find ourselves being led by a profoundly narcissistic and profoundly wicked man, who is called a “messiah” and “the one” by his worshipers. And it’s obvious he thinks those things of himself too. He has sat and spoken in a lot of “churches,” declaring God a liar, and his followers need to ignore Biblical passages that he dislikes. He loves wickedness and hates righteousness. If he’s not THE Antichrist, the real one must be a doozy.

But the Obamanation just reflects modern America’s depravity. That’s how such an evil man could be elected. Twice.

Or maybe we can just stop changing the subject, and bring back jobs to America.

We have been exporting jobs to everywhere else now, for over an entire generation.

Bring them back. Now.

And what was the percentage of foreign born in 1776 pray tell?

The vast majority were born in the US. The first census was done in 1790. In 1776 the estimated population was 2.5 million.

All the colonies, after they were started, grew mostly by natural growth, with foreign born populations rarely exceeding 10% in isolated instances. The last significant colonies to be settled mainly by immigrants were Pennsylvania in the early 18th century and Georgia and the Borderlands in the late 18th century, as migration (not immigration) continued to provide nearly all the settlers for each new colony or state. This pattern would continue throughout U.S. history.

sheesh, we are a country of immigrants, that is our strength the great melting pot

You can buy into that crap, but we are not a great melting pot anymore, if we ever were. Diversity and multiculturalism are not strengths. Most of our immigrants came from Europe until the 1965 Immigration Act that changed the demographics of this country forever. We are being Balkanized along the lines of culture, language, race, and ethnicity. We have entered the era of tribal politics.

We are not a country of immigrants. 85% of us were born here. And what country, by your definition, is not a country of immigrants?

foreign born and legally present are two different things

Most of them are legally present, i.e., out of the estimated 45 million foreign born about 11.5 million are here illegally--according to official USG figures. Those here legally vote 2 to one Dem.

Coolidge was damn good. Understated, but boy did that guy know how to run a Constitutional Republic.

In my opinion, we were finished economically with FDR, and that might seem odd, since some of our best economic heights were reached long after him, but the seed of the welfare state and the death of self-reliance, the trust that the government would ‘lock box’ a special fund for us... What fools. America cannot survive with over 50% on assistance. Not for long.

We were pretty much dead culturally by 1964. There was no reversal at that point. We were heading down the crapper.

I absolutely agree. This idea of the ‘melting pot’ needs to be done away with. The facts are these. European immigrants designed America. They laid the foundations of the country. African Americans were essentially assimilated over periods of hundreds of years (a large amount of it against their will, but it happened), and the Europeans who came in the 1900s were all of similar cultures and belief systems to the people already here.

Bringing in immigrants by the truckload now, from Mexico, and Somalia, and every other hellhole on the planet? Culture is not something people pick up in a generation. It just isn’t. It takes a long time, and when the government actively helps these communities in segregating themselves, it is virtually impossible.

Quotas were not racist. Quotas recognized that cultures are very distinct and more often than not are like oil and water. They don’t mix well. Lee Rigby in London experience this oil and water contrast when his head was hacked off by a Nigerian Muslim.

Why does Mexico suck so much? I’m asking a serious question. Is it an accident of geography? Is it the climate? Or is it actually that their culture is debased and their politics is a disaster as a result.

It is a goal of the left to balkanize the US. They want some states speaking Spanish, and some states where Islam is the most widely practiced religion. The more they divide America, the easier it is to conquer. This is what invading countries do. The left is like a foreign invasion force.

Bingo. But the seed of political demise was also sowed then, if not earlier. FDR a Champion of Violating the Constitution, but he's not alone.

Constitutional Law :

The written text of the state and federal constitutions. The body of judicial precedent that has gradually developed through a process in which courts interpret, apply, and explain the meaning of particular constitutional provisions and principles during a legal proceeding. ....
