Full title (shortened due to length):
Climate Craziness of the Week: Fish living near the equator will not thrive in the warmer oceans of the future

Comments are hilarious ranging from technical (mass of oceans make it impossible for that temperature rise to occur [earth would be unlivable if so - equivalent of setting off 400 atomic bombs per second]) to recipes for fish (Fish, in 350F oil, covered with a nice tempura batter, will not survive). Overwhelming sentiment of those commenting: but never underestimate these guys. The desperation continues to show.

Globull warming alarmist would have you believe that the earth’s temperature has NEVER, EVER been higher than it is right now, which is of course BS.

Duh, have “Equator Fish” lost the ability to swim towards cooler water?

Some Wacko is trying to get funding to study Australia reef.
They did the same thing with “Coral Bleaching” back in the ‘90s and “Discovered” the reef has natural cycles.

There is plenty of time for fish to migrate to where they are more comfy.
Or maybe they thrive near the equator because that's the warmest water they could find, and they wouldn't mind warmer.
All they have to do to cool down is do swim down a few feet.
If they can't figure it out, they'll become food for those who do.
Or there is no global warming to worry about.

Either way, problem solved.

Most Fish used to warm water have a hard time in cold water.. most/many die..
BUT..... fish used to cold water mostly can survive in warmer water..

probably the same with mammals.. and insects.... and reptiles..

Takes more giddyup to survive in cold weather.. than in warm..
UNLESS yer talking a desert.. then the reverse is true.. (mostly)...

What did these poor sensitive fish do 10,000 years ago during the last Ice Age?

My nomination for reply of the day:
mistressmagoo says:

And I always thought that the temperature of the ocean reduced with depth. I must be wrong because the fish would swim down a few inches if the water seemed too warm for them as they have no doubt done for millions of years. Never mind. These scientists are very clever people – much cleverer than fish.

Fish living near the equator will not thrive in future warmer oceans

That might be true if the change was very rapid.
However they talk about a century for the change.
The species should adapt to slowly changing temperatures up or down, thru generations of breeding. -Tom

You gotta love Science! It says that a fish can turn into a frog which can turn into a monkey which can turn into a human, but a fish can’t adapt enough to survive a 3 degree temperature change.

Unfortunately, I lost a whole tank of RCS due to a malfunctioning heater (it was ON the whole time).

Sad, but it’s a whole different story.

Similar scientific method, let’s transplant these researchers to Mercury (the planet). They can continue their research on climate change there.

Haven't these species of fish been around for millions of years?

How did they survive through past warm periods?
