Jerk of the Week - Milwaukee County District Attorney

Many times we have focused on liberal hypocrites or establishment politicians as our Jerk of the Week recipients. However, there is one category of scum that truly deserves our scorn and disgust. I'm speaking of those who use the power of government to harass their political foes and attempt to stifle their God-given rights as enumerated in our Constitution. That's why our Jerk of the Week is John Chisholm, the Milwaukee County District Attorney.

A federal civil rights lawsuit was filed early this week against the special prosecutor, the presiding judge, and top prosecutors in the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office. What has been going is that for the last four years, District Attorney John Chisholm and his cronies have been using legal shenanigans to inflict harm upon conservatives who supported Governor Scott Walker when he was leading the charge against public sector unions. Apparently, Wisconsin has this weird provision where they can undertake John Doe proceedings against anybody that they wish. What a John Doe probe does is that while it acts like a grand jury investigation, it is far more insidious. The state has a tremendous amount of power and can actually seize property without anybody being found guilty of anything. The investigation can probe into every aspect of a person's life and there have been a number of pre-dawn raids. Even worse, the targets of these attacks are under a court-ordered gag order about the entire situation. If the target dares to speak out publicly, they face contempt of court charges and even jail time.

I cannot fathom anything more un-American than these types of proceedings. These John Doe investigations carried out by the Milwaukee County District Attorney are just fishing expeditions but with incredibly severe consequences. The fact that the court, who is doing these "investigations" against conservatives, can decree that the targets cannot publicly talk about their harassment is beyond the pale. Basically, the local government is saying that we can subpoena you, run your life and business through a ringer, conduct raids on your homes and families, and even seize your property, but if you actually object and tell the world what you're doing, then you're in contempt of the court and will be jailed. I thought we lived in America, not some banana republic or Soviet satellite state.

The fact is that liberal zealots are abusing government power to harass and intimidate those who they politically disagree with. If the objects of the John Doe investigations are guilty of campaign finance laws, then charge them in open court and let's be done with it. The fact that this campaign is being carried out in secret makes one think that the government isn't being honest. I would ask for help from higher authorities, but I shudder at what Eric Holder and his Department of Justice would do. Honestly, those associated with these illegal John Doe investigations by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office, especially District Attorney John Chisholm, need to convicted and sentenced to many years in jail. For their actions, they are our Jerk of the Week.

Lock and load, boys and girls??

Sounds to me like ‘they’ have precluded legal recourse.

The stories in the Milwaukee Urinal-Cesspool have been very unfair in their coverage. Always written to make it look as though there was some kind of criminal conspiracy going on in the Walker campaign/administration during the stupid recall, putting the idea into the tiny little brains of our beloved LIV that Governor Walker is a crook. I get the feeling that this is Chisolm’s intent. He’s not seeking justice, he’s trying to get Walker voted out in November and the Milwaukee “news”paper is playing right along.

The solution is simple, really.
Be an anonymous whistleblower, and provide the press with the facts.
That, fortunately, provides an outlet that is not yet subject to attack by any legal procedings, and is not likely to be any time soon, since it accrues to the benefit of rational citizens, as well as those who would shred the Constitution.

This kind of abuse of power is exactly what our Constitution and Bill of Rights were written to prevent. Our Founding Fathers who argued over whether a Bill of Rights was even necessary in our Constitution would be shocked to learn how badly we're being abused in modern America.

Unchecked liberalism i.e. progressiveness always without exception turns into tyranny.

The First Congress passed not only the Bill of Rights but also the first civil forfeiture law. The Founders were not as fond of civil liberties once they won the Revolutionary War and got into power as they were when they were fighting the British.
