Maybe they really will need this thing, after taking the rest of the irrigation water away.

That's a pretty hard assessment. I was in government, and i was your friend.

If people continue to elect sheriffs that will not uphold the Constitution, they deserved what they get. Exhibit A is the entire state of Virginia. Low voter turnout in an era where we cannot afford low voter turnout. At any time, for any race.

As for the gangs in California, sometimes have to serve a high risk warrant-- and we live in a day where punks do not care who they kill. The younger ones are particularly dangerous. If the vehicle is used properly, then I have no problem with it. I'm certainly not going to "lose my shit" at the mere mention a community acquired one; particularly when no one understands the context on the community.

We blame government, then don't show up. We are part of the problem.

Do you really believe that only a poor goat herder, little boy lover can knock out light armor. When the SHTF hits there will be some very interesting science projects coming out of home work shops. We have thousands of PHD. and Masters out of work in chemistry and engineering, good luck coppers.

10-20 Molotov cocktails would put that sucker out of commission pretty quick.

You are over thinking it. This isn't Iraq, or A-Stan, where the operators can live behind rows of barbed wire and machine gun pits. They live in neighborhoods, go to the store, and live their lives amongst the populace. Ultimately, the easiest way to defeat such devices is to kill the people who operate them.

The government knows this, which is why it is so hot on getting guns out of the hands of citizens.

I saw a truck with several of these headed south on I-85 through Georgia several months ago. Somehow, I knew they were to be used against Americans.

If my township gets one of those, I will take it as a challenge take it out.

I presume you mean take it out for a drive. It would be very useful to get a copy of the keys and know where it is parked, or just know how to get it running if need be, and even get some training on driving it. You never know when some emergency might happen and you and your fellow residents would have to help out by moving the vehicle to a safe location, or using it to evacuate or protect citizens. Kind of like the people who took the school buses to help evacuate their neighbors in New Orleans.

Lots of former military hardware is being given to local towns for their use. Some of it could be very useful in a time of emergency, and can be used by local community emergency management groups. The more of it that is spread around the country the better. You never know where a storm or other emergency could occur, and military vehicles could be useful.

Is the distribution of equipment under this program subject to FOIA requirements? I would think so.

On the bright side, the gas mileage must be really terrific so all of the enviro wackos will be happy.

Nothing new. Back in 1969, the Cairo Ill police dept had a hand built armored vehicle they called “The War Wagon”.

“...the Cairo Ill police dept...”

If what I’ve heard and read about Cairo is true, this might actually have been one of the few instances where the Police really needed it.

10-20 Molotov cocktails would put that sucker out of commission pretty quick.

Fill a flower pot with thermite (easy to make), place on the hood, ignite and run away.
