Are they separate, unrelated, symptoms? No. The economic decline suffered by Michigan caused the population decline. To reverse the population decline Michigan needs an economic recovery — nothing else will stem the population decline.

The economic hub of the state has been destroyed. What destroyed it? Democrat politicians and Democrat policies (brought about by LIV/Democrat-voting union members).

Prescription:
Apply fiscal restraint in state and local government, end government gimmees to LIVs and end the tyrannical reign of unions. Take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

Detroit would recover and so too would Michigan’s economy and when Michigan’s economy is on the mend then US citizens would naturally migrate there seeking better opportunities for themselves (conservatives happen to be the segment of the population that seeks to better itself through working in the free market). Those that continue Michigan’s death spiral are Democrats. Period.

Finding ways to bring in more immigrants is simply increasing the Democrat population which will continue the death spiral of Michigan (and send droves of illegal immigrants to other states turning them into the third world countries they initially came from).

At some point even the least intelligent among us come to the realization that doing more of the same thing does not reverse a worsening situation. Those that never figure it out have no intelligence at all. We call these lifeforms Democrats.

I was born and raised in Michigan, and between socialist democrats, and militant socialist unions, they managed to run the state straight into the ground, and then turn to recruiting illegals from mexico to fill the gap left by all of the people with a brain (including me) who fled that bolshevik shithole.
