Hitman Pro was the only thing that worked when I got a “FBI Warning” ransomware worm. I run ESET, malwarebytes, and superantispyware too.

Download Hitman Pro and install it... get yourself a thumbdrive and create a boot drive on it with Hitman... search Youtube there is a good walkthrough there with a guy with a European accent... it is the only thing I have used to get rid of these “FBI” ransomware worms.

Well, first, it's not my question.
It's N. Theknow's question.

Second, after 30 years of dealing with Window's problems, I haven't given up the crutch of a good security program.
Maybe I will over time.
But some of my comments have drawn "serious" blow-back.

But, I congratulate you on your confidence with Apple/Mac.
I'm getting there.

STOP, DO NOT JUST DOWNLOAD/INSTALL/RUN PROGRAMS PEOPLE SAY.

Combofix/SuperAntiSpyware are both very powerful programs that can damage your drive/files if you aren’t careful. If Malwarebytes or the other basic cleaners can’t handle it, Try Google searching your specific problem and use a guide from www.bleepingcomputer.com (is your best option), or majorgeek.com, or maybe 1-2 other guide sites.

Boy would I have saved money on security programs, firewalls, virus protection, 2-year updates to new versions of Windows. What an idiot I was, to hold on to Windows.

I just didn't see why you felt the need to pay for everything that was free, or how you found a way to pay to upgrade your OS every two years.

Yah... Apple computers are so secure you never have to run any antivirus or anti malware.

Botnets depend on this sort of arrogance. Apple computers are unix computers, and so 99+ percent of them worldwide are unpatched and running no anti malware apps because their owners don’t think they need to. Makes them just beautiful targets for Botnets. And nobody ever knows they were there.

I was talking about the COST OF KEEPING WINDOWS UP AND RUNNING, not Apple/Mac.

I know that, aren’t you reading my posts? what costs?

How can it cost nothing for many of us since all the security programs have free versions, and who buys a new operating sytem upgrade every two years, like you said you do?

Many of us here are just leaving XP, and we use free programs for everything.

You said The free versions are nothing compared to the "Pay Versions", because there is a great deal of difference.
I purchased the upgrades to Windows newer versions, up to and including Windows XP, and after seeing the trouble people were having with Windows newer version beyond XP, I quit buying their upgrades.
Other upgrades I purchased were the security systems.

Take my advise and save yourself some trouble.
DUMP WINDOWS.

"I've run Windows from 1981 up until 2010 and the whole time, my military friends were telling me that I'd be happier with a MAC."
"Boy would I have saved money on security programs, firewalls, virus protection, 2-year updates to new versions of Windows."
"I purchased the upgrades to Windows newer versions, up to and including Windows XP, and after seeing the trouble people were having with Windows newer version beyond XP, I quit buying their upgrades."

Well, another case of internet BS from an exaggerating poster. The computer world really saw you coming.

There's no exaggeration.
Enjoy your viruses, most of them ~ you don't even know about.

I of course know about viruses, didn’t you read my post to you that almost all of my computers have been discards, and even from the Alley?

Getting rid of viruses and cleaning up your old computers is my computer skill, I then know how to painlessly keep them off, and have never spent a penny to do that.

It was just too much exaggeration, “Boy would I have saved money on security programs, firewalls, virus protection, 2-year updates to new versions of Windows.”
