USDA Announces More 'Flexibility' For Next Year's School Meals

Just a day after House Republicans introduced legislation to roll back some Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations on school meal programs, the USDA announced some flexibility would be granted to some schools for the coming school year when implementing the new policies:

Someone tell me, how is this acceptable?! "Food Nazis"!

Of course, eating small portions of only whole-grain and organic and vegetable-type and free-range-type foods might seem like a good idea, especially if we have an "epidemic of obesity" (particularly affecting children, apparently), but how is this the purview of the Federal Government, to order that it be so? Nice to know there will be "waivers", based on the complete unaffordability of such a "mandate"!

Did you know, Wonder Bread helps build strong bodies 12 ways? LOL! I'm one of the 99% who carried a home-prepared brown bag "sack" lunch 99% of the time...and I'm not close to being obese all these years later, either, SHEESH!

Mrs. Obama would do better to mandate recess ("Let's Move", indeed) than to regulate the children's diets...

The year and a half I spent in high skrewel I sure as hell didn’t eat their gruel.

Hash Browns? Oh, skip that. A kid I knew in 1st grade liked paste but, hash browns shouldn’t taste like worn out horse hoof.

Orange juice, grapefruit juice? Got some sugars for sports.

Lunch? Always off campus or what I brought from home.

Cafeteria food is inedible and that’s saying a lot, from a guy who will eat crickets, scrambled cows blood and dozens of other things most people won’t eat.

If I had kids I would never subject them to what should rightfully be called “Abuse”. They’re frickin kids! Who does that to a child?

Animals, that’s who. And the hapless misfits, who would be found guilty in The Hague, for they were “only doing their job and executing an order”.

It really makes no nevermind to me - my daughter brings lunch fro home, as do most of her friends. They won’t eat the slop called food that is served in the HS cafeteria. And these are kids that LOVED the school lunches when they were in elementary school.

Good for her. She not only is getting something she likes but the lunch is probably more nourishing.

The country has gone mad with all this balanced,low fat,whole grain,free range,all natural nonsense.
