Jesus Christ couldn't have saved John McCain's presidential bid, says daughter

The daughter of John McCain has said her father could have had Jesus Christ as his running mate and still not won the 2008 US presidential election.

McCain chose Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate, a move which many blamed for his eventual defeat against Barack Obama.

But Meghan McCain told Larry King in an interview for his PoltiKING show that this is not the reason why her father lost the election.

"I think my father could have had Jesus Christ as his running mate and it wouldn't have mattered in '07. I truly believe that," she said.

Palin was derided in the media in the run-up to the election but although McCain agreed with King that she did "bring a lot on herself", she was "not given a great hand and people really wanted to rip her apart".

She believes the treatment is also down to the fact that the media likes to "annihilate" strong women.

"I wish the media had been easier on her during that time, or at least more understanding," she said.

McCain went on to criticise the Secret Service who protected her for several months during her father's presidential campaign.

"I respect that they're there to protect people, but I found them very cliquey and very gossipy and very voyeuristic. I did not like the secret service," she said.

But she had even stronger words for the Republican strategist Karl Rove, who her family suspect of being behind a rumor during John McCain's previous presidential bid in 2000 that he was the true father of Meghan's adopted sister from Bangladesh.

"I hate Karl Rove and I think he still needs to apologise to my family, which he has not done, for the things that happened in 2000 and I think there was an era where Karl Rove was relevant and I don't konw why people still give him attention," she said.

I gotta agree with her on that one. John McCain and Al Gore may go down as the two biggest @ssholes ever to run for the White House in my lifetime.

Her faith tells her that Jesus just wasn't up to the task. There are some miracles, she thinks, that Jesus is not capable of working.

Wow. I can't believe she thinks her father John McCain was THAT bad of a candidate.

But maybe she's right.

Why would it take Jesus to tell America that Obama’s a communist? All that would take is guts and honesty.

And maybe the will to WIN!

Considering that John McCain has the stigma of voting ‘no’ for veterans’ benefits, for many years.

What a ditz, Jesus obviously is in control of the whole universe, and He did not deem to save her dad’s presidential campaign (for whatever reason). I wish she’d just go away!

That’s because he had already made a deal to lose.

More like become “something of a porker” these days.

The headline doesn't reflect what she actually said, though.

She said: "I think my father could have had Jesus Christ as his running mate and it wouldn't have mattered in '07. I truly believe that."

It wasn't a reflection on the power of God or Jesus. She was talking about the mood of the country, and she was probably right about that in 2008 (or for some reason 2007).

You could get deeper into theology if you want: would Jesus have worked a miracle to put his running mate McCain in the White House, or would he have let voters come to their own decision? WWJD?

I was going to ask why she's still news. But since she said it on Larry King's cable show it really wasn't news.

Unlike any candidate ever.

but although McCain agreed with King that she did "bring a lot on herself",

Bull. Shit.

she was "not given a great hand and people really wanted to rip her apart".

Oh, gee. What was your first clue? Every interview was a hit job or an edited pile of crap. The ticket was recovering and even pulling ahead of the Marxists, until the economy tanked. Courtesy of another hit job.

"Jesus Christ couldn't have saved John McCain's presidential bid, says daughter"

She may be right. McCain was determined to elect Barack Obama, and he did.

While what she says is true, it is not for the reason SHE speaks of. Why would Jesus save John McCain’s WH run when it was his own undoing? He acted like a fool most of the time. The only good decision was choosing Sarah, but she should’ve declined, really. He has not been nice to her since. She did as much as anybody could have done, but he was the problem, and nobody else.
