MSNBC's Harris-Perry: The NBA is Precisely Like Slavery

Slavery is when human beings are owned by other human beings, used and often abused like animals, and taken advantage of all in pursuit of profit, either financially or for power. Slaves rarely were able to escape, and those who did often had to remain in hiding or in fear for their entire lives. Slaves who could not escape were doomed to toil, and frequently their children and grandchildren suffered the same fate.

According to MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry, the National Basketball Association is just like this.

Never mind that NBA players make millions of dollars every year. Never mind that, from playing in a single game, many NBA players make more than the average person makes in a year. Never mind that NBA players chose their career path and can leave whenever they want. Never mind that players who leave the NBA can do so of their own volition and if they do, they do not have to live in fear or hiding. Never mind that players aren't beaten by owners if they don't play well. Nope, the NBA is precisely like slavery!

Responding to statements made by owner Mark Cuban, Harris-Perry summarized it on her show sloppily: “Wealthy owners? Check. Profit made from the sale of black bodies? Check. Racial angst? Check.” She then stated that reparations would be the next topic on her show, alluding to arguments in favor of giving descendants of slaves some form of recompense.

This is really very insulting to the memory of those who truly suffered as slaves.

So, is “midnight basketball” the gateway to the slave trade?

MSNBC is letting their talking heads go wild this month.

Their ratings projections must really be getting bad.

Since NBA players are slaves, I suggest that the evil plantaiton owners sell their plantations to the highest bidder, and be done with the practice. Then see how the NBA does.

Shouldn’t the NBA have proportional race representation to the US population?
otherwise it’s de facto racism.

Anyone taking reparations should agree to leave the country, forever.

Isn’t it a technical foul to have two white players on the court at the same time unless one of them is European?

I care nothing for basketball but years ago when I looked at TV from time to time and flipped on a channel featuring either a college basketball game or an NBA game and saw that all players on the court were black, I would say to my wife, "It looks like there's some serious basketball going on here."

From the comments I gather that almost all games today are serious basketball!

She then stated that reparations would be the next topic on her show, alluding to arguments in favor of giving descendants of slaves some form of recompense.

This is a form of the violent-appropriation doctrine which states that a group that is descended from earlier possessors of property whose rights the ancestors of the present owners allegedly violated should be should receive violent transfer of property from the descendents of the violators. But no amount of past violence in the appropriation of property can justify new, fresh acts of violent transfer of property. This is just fresh injustice. In order for justice to be done, there must be a time limit on the recognition of claims for the redress of past injustices.

It would certainly be a gross injustice to ask anyone to work and save to improve his property, and then take it from him in the basis of such claims. For justice to be done, conditions must be such that people can work and save to improve their property. And for such conditions to exist, property rights must be put beyond challenge as quickly and as completely as possible. This means, as minimum, a strict time limit on the recognition of claims based on past injustices.

In a free and rational society, once private property rights are made secure, not only are the effects of past injustices washed away, but the property of a country is quickly put to its most efficient uses.

I don’t even bother reading the rants of people with two last names, unless the combined net worth of their families is at least one billion dollars.

No, Melissa. Having three names and fanning race warfare by undermining your own free country because your OES secret society coven rewards your sorry excuse for a career and will kick you to the street and shun your family if you disobey, is precisely like slavery.

Just imagine what this tardish wench would say if whites dominated the NBA. She’d be leading the discrimination parade. Worthless. Completely worthless.

It gives the black guys too many people to keep the ball away from if 2 white guys are out there.
