Michelle Obama Leads Us Down The Road Of Food Tyranny

Michelle Obama’s intrusion into school lunches has come under fire from students, Republicans and even her husband’s executive branch. Mrs. Obama essentially wants government to dictate what people eat. Via her school lunch program, the government is insisting that schools feed kids food they won’t or don’t eat. The cost for schools is higher, student participation is lower. As is typical with government, the program is one size fits all. Calorie counts are based on elementary, middle and high school and don’t count for age differences. In other words, the program is a mess. Republicans want to cut into it, even the administration has weakened the law.

Admittedly, I’m getting old, but I honestly don’t remember voting her into the Food Nazi position.

to me, this shows the liberal tendency to micro manage our lives.

The school lunch program may have started out with good intentions, but placing more and more restrictions on the program, makes this program not work the way it should.

To me, I think it would be good to let schools around the country manage their own school lunch programs, or choose not to have a program at all, if that is there choice. But that’s just me. I know liberals wouldn’t go for that.

I’m for the government “PROMOTING the general welfare.” That implies spending money, but not making regulations. If 0 wants to use some of his executive budget sending The Mooch around the country promoting healthy eating, go for it. I’m for healthy eating.

As I've said before, I don't have any confidence that she's an expert anyway.

And, no, I don't care if she's superimposed into the photo, it still shows the comparison...

School lunches are her opening salvo as a candidate....

=================================================

BACKSTORY The itinerant WH parasite (AKA the first lady) is getting ready to launch herself into a political campaign....on the backs of hungry children.

Notice that Michelle is looking---and sounding--- more and more like a candidate everyday. Recent news clips of the I/P making the HS grad speech (where she ordered kids to squeal on their families) shows she's been coached well. The way she used one hand to subtly gesticulate while making her points, was the tipoff.

Let's go back to her last trip on the taxpayers' dime.

That would be the I/P's pricey China trip.... "sold" to Americans as a "non-political" visit...she was just there to chat up education.

But all of her appearances and inane remarks were connivingly structured for one purpose: to set herself up as a future candidate....and doing it on our dime.

MISSION CREEP Then the WH let loose with the final explanation....that her trip, and the tripe she was pedaling, was "soft diplomacy" ---- to "ease tensions" between the US and China (which have further deteriorated).

Come again? Who elected this self-serving creep? Who gave her diplomat credentials? She was there to "ease tensions" between the US and China---but flopped bigtime as Us/China relations have deteriorated even further.

I just can't wait til candidate Michele announces that she's s-o-o-o-o popular, she raised $50 million dollars in 2 hours.

But I hope Valerie Jarett doesn't get carpel tunnel syndrome wire-transferring federal funds offshore for Michele's campaign expenses.

ROTFLOL.

"The school lunch program may have started out with good intentions, but placing more and more restrictions on the program, makes this program not work the way it should."

Absolutely. Look, improving the heath of the school lunch environment is pretty simple and doesn't take extensive dietary micromangement. (sodium, fat and calorie count specifications.) Get rid of soda pop and sweets. Chips or snack items that come in a bag. (ie. junk food) Minimize processed foods. Make sure there is a meat, a non-starchy vegatable, a small carb (potato, rice, pasta) and a fruit serving in the lunch. The actual menus can be dictated by each school or district as works best for them and best suits the tastes of the collective student population. Presto. Following these simple guidelines you have a school lunch program that would not add to "childhood obesity" a bit. But we all know this about control not health. How could a free people tolerate an unelected bureaucrat 1000 miles away micromanaging what we must eat for lunch?

Well said. This lunch program is being micro managed by bureaucrats in Washington, DC, who think they can plan our lives for us better than we can run our own lives, and our own schools.

I hope that, in the future, more conservative candidates devoted to liberty and small government run for office, at all levels. I would like to see political campaigns discuss these issues. Rather than talking about which political party will run government programs more effectively, I hope to see discussions about whether some programs are even needed at all.

It’s amazing that this woman of rather large portioned buttocks has the nerve to tell anyone how or what to eat.

Don’t they have any mirrors in our White House, or are they all in Obambi’s muslim prayer room?

“That implies spending money, but not making regulations.”
You’re kidding right? How does an entity spend money without controlling spending. He who pays the piper calls the tune. Promoting the general welfare means to create conditions that would allow the best outcomes. Giving money to specific people or other entities is specific rather than general. It is not the federal government’s constitutional duty to feed school children. The idea that a conservative thins it OK to spend federal taxpayer money to second the President’s wife around the country to hector folks is rather disturbing.
Just for the record I am a long time “health nut”. All for healthful living.

But it’s really a moot point because, if things were how they should be, The Mooch wouldn’t be out promoting healthy food, she, her husband, every Rat pol, and 3/4 of all pols would be tried for treason.
