Probably right, but in the back of my mind is the *small, very small* thought that they may be all blithering, coked-up idiots at this stage of the game.
He’s from a different culture. He doesn’t understand how Americans think. For him, this was a good trade. It never occurred to him that anyone might see it any other way.
Like many on the left, Obama lives on a different planet. In Obama's world, American military deserters are the good guys. Those who serve with honor are the bad guys, the Genghis Khans. This is insane, but it is not necessarily a sign of stupidity. There are many high functioning leftists.
Don’t forget that he does not like America. He wants to get even and was reacting in covert anger after the VA revelations.
Obama knew it was a bad deal because Congressional Intelligence Committees told him it was. He ignored them. It was like trading Murderer’s Row for an iffy Single A prospect. Thanks Obama for putting a bigger targets on our backs. These 5 guys probably hate America even more now after spending umpteen years at Gitmo being tortured.

None of that matters to him. For him, it was a good deal. If you think he puts your wants and needs ahead of his own, you’re sadly mistaken. He doesn’t know what you think, and he doesn’t want to know.
