Bergdahl could return to active duty after treatment

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl could return to active duty after he completes medical treatment for being held captive for five years by the Taliban, Army officials said Friday.

“The goal of reintegration is to return a soldier to duty,” said Colonel Bradley Poppen, a psychologist who will be treating the 28-year-old Idaho native at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

Bergdahl returned to the US early Friday after spending 12 days in Germany as part of his recovery process. He was captured by the Taliban in 2009 and released May 31 in a swap that freed five high-level Taliban terrorists from Guantanamo Bay.

The former prisoner of war has chosen not speak to his parents since his release, officials said.

“It is a returnee’s choice to make that determination when, where and who they want to” reconnect with, said Poppen. “ I believe the family understands that process at this time.”

He said the family is not in Texas to welcome his son....

That’s probably Hagel or Clapper running off at the mouth again. Watch it Gentlemen you’re not getting paid to think, at least not to think independently of your Puppet Master.
There is still plenty of room under that Bus. Just ask your Good Pal Hillary.

Haven’t we already seen this script in Homeland? Do we really need to repeat it in real life? I cannot for the life of me understand the popularity of that show.

You have written a very astute observation. I can absolutely see this road of rationalization being chosen and kept by the Military. Those would indeed be the Terms Of Endearment, to illicit sympathy from the featherbrained who have never served.

“He will get back pay and an honorable discharge. Sickening.”

That will be chicken feed compared to what the low-life MSM will be paying him for interviews. Add to that a probable book deal, using a ghost writer.

I have a had feeling of how this will really end. Bowe may get out and with two years, move in with his family, against his therapist’s advice. Six weeks later both Bowe and his Dad will request restraining orders against the other. Six weeks after that, one or both men will be critically injured.
His dad has some very deep issues and has been accused of stalking young women. Mother is probably an enabler. Bowe will suddenly remember exactly why he moved out of the family home at age 17.

The Coast Guard thought he was nuts, so they kicked him to the curb.

He [Bergdahl] could get the Army to assign him on temporary duty orders to Barry Soetoro Obama as his new boyfriend. I understand that the Muslims are very into boyfriends and animal husbandry. Besides, Barry needs a new squeeze since Reggie Love left his embrace.

They’re going to say they’ve known all along that he had mental problems and that’s why Hagel and the rest have been saying “Wait for the evidence.” They’re all a bunch of lying bastards. And they get away with it.

I thought all prisoners of war were discharged shortly after their freedom?

Not true. I met an Air Force pilot in 1976. He was back flying, on active duty, after being released from the Hanoi Hilton.

Want him as your squad leader or section chief?

Nope - but the climate is changing so anyone who expresses the slightest disapproval will be chained/flogged/busted/dishonorably discharged.

The old saying, "The beatings will continue until morale improves" are coming true in the military. It sickens me to no end after 24 years in uniform and another 15 working with those in uniform.

I am sure that is a lie.

He got kicked out of the Coast Guard. Why did the Army even take him? Don’t they do background checks or were they just desperate for bodies?

Aside from the case of this particular man who seems like he should not, for many reasons, return to active duty, what does this mean?

You sign up for what, about 3 years at a time? He served some time before he was captured. Let’s even say it was a year. So he’s been in the military for at least 6 years. Why would he return to duty, doesn’t his time as a prisoner count as time served in the military?

I suppose a person might want to return, but I can also see someone saying, that’s the end of that.

I read some of his emails that were released and the man seems to have some pretty strong mental problems. He was writing in some kind of code, mis-spelling words (like writing surtanly for certainly, I just made that one up but stuff like that) and using numbers for letters.

And what’s made me suspicious is how they keep saying: he hasn’t seen his family yet, he’ll only see them for a short time, etc.

I’m sure his mom wants to grab him and hug him and squish him, etc. and I can understand that. But it seems like the docs feel he’s going to have a bad reaction to his parents reaction. And that seems strange because I don’t think anyone doubts his parents love him very much and went to great lengths to help him get freed.

So, in short, if they say he’s nuts, I’m going to believe it.
