Cantor will vote for Brat (Harrumph!)
The Hill ^ | June 15, 2014 | Alexander Bolton

Posted on 06/15/2014 9:09:53 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said Sunday he will vote for Dave Brat, the man who ended his career in Congress, but stopped short of congratulating him or mentioning his name.

Cantor, who lost to Brat despite outspending by a margin of 26 to 1, stressed the importance of keeping the Republican Party unified, a message he stressed to Tea Party conservatives in the House after the 2013 government shutdown.

Cantor said keeping his seat, Virginia’s 7th congressional district, in Republican hands is a priority and that’s why he’ll vote for Brat, who pummeled him mercilessly on the campaign trail as an ideological sellout.

“I want a Republican to hold this seat. Of course. Of course,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union." “This is about making sure that we have a strong Republican majority in the House. I'm hopeful we'll take it in the Senate, as well. I'm very optimistic about that.”

Cantor said GOP control of the House and Senate will provide a “real check” on the Obama administration.

But he did not mention Brat by name or congratulate him for his victory.

This has rankled Brat supporters who have criticized Cantor for not taking this customary step. They see it akin to Novak Djokovic not shaking Rafael Nadal’s hand after losing the French Open last week.

Cantor declined to speculate about his political future. He ruled out the possibility of running for governor in Virginia.

“No,” he said when asked about that job. “I am right now looking forward to sitting down with my wife, Diana. And we’ve talked a little bit. But we’re going to talk some more about the future.”

Get a Roland Jupiter 8 synth. Flip the switch for oscillator sync and you’ll have unity. Otherwise? Not so much ;)

Get over it. There is a difference between contrarily and “Liberal”. And your post wasn’t conservative.

I'll just keep working to destroy liberal republicans at the primary or in the general election. The party will move right. Or it will cease to exist. I don't care which.

This BS of vote for us and we'll move right is just that... BS.

I look forward to destroying more liberal republicans.

Cantor could begin by congratulating Brat for his successful campaign.

Given your plan to help the pro-abort Democrat in Kentucky, it seems like he’d want you to keep talking.

Not helping the Dem. Hurting the liberal republican. If you can't see the difference, you'll never get your losing problem fixed.

I saw that. That boy couldn't pour water out of a boot with directions written on the heel.

Typical liberal GOP-E, though. Opportunism for the sake of opportunism.

What gets me is we’re being lectured by people who spend half their disposable income on prepper supplies for their bugout shelter.

Why should we take advice on strategy from anyone so invested in the idea that the country is doomed?

I said brat won fair and square and that cantor mishandled the entire campaign.

What is “liberal” about that?

If I lived in va-7, I would vote for brat in the general. But I still think it is stupid to cashier the next speaker in your own congressional district, but that is what elections are for.

Now what in god’s name is so horrific about that point of view? It is perfectly reasonable.

Why would an American forward a liberal agenda or help those that do? Answer, they forgot the face of the Fathers.

You called the state a bunch of idiots for ousting a liberal.

Better get used to having very strong pushback against liberal republican candidates, or your party is going to keep losing elections.

And he will make nice w Brat in the coming days. He’s actually helping brat, who has already proven on msnbc that he is not ready for prime time.

Not true, msnbc did their usual cut and paste with his interview, to make it appear that black is white.

Brat's mistake was going on msnbc in the first place,

You don’t seem to get that some of us see the reality that the GOP is every bit the danger that the Dems are.

You are probably better just ignoring us because you arent converting us. Or stopping us from fighting for what we believe in.

I did not call the state idiots. I called the voters in va-7 idiots for throwing out the next GOP speaker who happened to have an exceptionally good voting record - in fact, better than many conservatives in the House. But that is their choice and my opinion is perfectly reasonable across a mainstream of conservative thought.

As to the voters in Virginia as a whole, mcauliffe, Warner, and others elected statewide speak for themselves.

There is an idiot in this. And it ain’t the voters.
