Lawsuit seeks to stop Arpaio's business raids

PHOENIX — Immigrant-rights advocates filed a lawsuit Wednesday challenging business raids by an Arizona sheriff's office that have led to the arrests of hundreds of immigrant workers on charges of using fake or stolen IDs to get jobs.

The lawsuit against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio alleges immigrants living in the U.S. illegally have been singled out in such cases, while only a small number of employers have had court cases brought against them on allegations of illegal hiring.

The advocates aren't seeking money and instead are asking a federal judge to conclude that a state law banning employers from hiring immigrants living in the U.S. illegally is discriminatory and conflicts with federal law. They are seeking a court order prohibiting Arpaio from enforcing that law.

The lawsuit said the Arizona Legislature acted in a discriminatory fashion when it revamped identity-theft laws to include workers who use fake or stolen IDs to get jobs..Am I reading this right ?? And they want it to be illegal to have document fraud laws ?

Discriminating against criminals, can’t have that.

what right do illegals have to be here? no rights.

ifwe tried the same crap in mexico we wouldn’t get away wth it. we’d be arrested for being in mexico illegally. just like they do to central americans who cross mexico’s southern border.

Yeah, another silly frivolous lawsuit that should go nowhere. Left-BOT judges can’t stop the Sheriff from enforcing law.

My daughter used to ride her bike on a dangerous road, gravel thrown in her eyes by trucks, to a job at the Taco Bell in Lockeford, CA (southern San Joaquin County, a mile from the Mokelumne river).

The manager’s brother, an undocumented worker (as I’m comfortable calling him), was working 80 hours a week using 3 phony Social Security numbers, while my daughter couldn’t even get 20 hours per week.

Pretty soon taxpayers and law-abiding U.S. citizens aren’t going to bother filing tax returns or comply with federal laws either. All of this is about dismantling the civil order, as Mark Levin eloquently stated in his monologue yesterday.

I think this is one of the factors for the demise of the soviet union. The satellite countries and individuals began to ignore the central govt.

There were other factors also of which the main one in my opinion was that they RAN OUT OF MONEY.

It is so obvious these people want no borders at all. It’ll have to be that way to get to one world government.

It should be the primary job of the border patrol to raid businesses, arrest illegals, and fine employers the maximum for a 1st offense and put employers in prison for a second offense!

Go get them Arpaio!!!

Isn't this kind of like rats lobbying against rat poison?

I can't tell if this is satire or not. It's so crazy that it should be, but everything about illegal immigration IS crazy.

Please give me just one example of something that is happening right now that would lead us to believe that everything is not crazy. I have been around since the early 1940’s, lived all over the United States and survived lots of political changes in DC and I simply do not believe what is happening now.

I can’t think of anything in the world of politics and national news that is not crazy.

Upside-down world.

In NormalWorld, We the People wouldn’t even have to be dealing with this cr@pola, but, we could at lease file a Citizens’ Rights suit against invaders taking our jobs.

They may not be able to stop it but they can delay it until the illegals disperse to other locales not so interested in enforcing the law as he is. That is the point, to tie the hands of a decent LEO long enough until it can’t be stopped.
