What will you do if the Internet & Phone communication are taken down?
The CB Patriot Project ^ | Scott

Posted on 06/18/2014 8:41:24 PM PDT by publius321

Tea Parties happened organically BECAUSE we have each other. Hence, terrorists, tyrants and those who intend harm to our freedom and constitution know they MUST isolate us by CONTROLLING the INTERNET and phone communication when it hits the fan. (Articles on that subject are featured in at cbPatriot.)

The CB Patriot Project is the place to join patriots from around America who have already joined the project to assure we can still communicate and congregate - just as we did in 2008 when the tea parties began to rise up.

Social media was not nearly as relevant when we started this project in 2011. Advertising funds have been minimal because we do not sell anything to support ads.

Now - that social media accounts like Twitter and Facebook are much more widely utilized among conservatives/patriots, we have the opportunity to make this WORK organically by sharing the project efficiently and effectively.

It costs nothing to join and is all volunteer. It will take participants in large numbers to work, so if you believe there is in fact a need for this, Tweeting and sharing on your social media platforms will help significantly.

Check it out. Join and spread the word if you see the impending need.

CB radios have very limited range to begin with, and fixed channel frequency coverage, so all it will take is a powerful jammer to render them useless over any distance greater than shouting. Dumb plan.

A very long time ago the function was carried out by Committees of Correspondence. I am embarrassed to admit how long it took me to figure out why they were necessary and what, exactly, they corresponded about. Place a ham radio in that format and I think we have a viable model.

I can still communicate via Amateur Radio. I’ve been doing it for 57 years.

I have not been active since 1994. I just lost interest in it. After many years of the same thing, I talked to the Europeans on 10 and 15 meters in the morning, and the Asians, mostly Japanese, on 12 meters in the afternoon, I just could not take it anymore. I got caught in more pile ups than carter has little liver pills. It seemed to always be the same, call sign, rig, RST, QTH, you speak good English, then on to the next one. I will never let my license expire, and if need be, ref this thread, I could always go back to it if I had to, but for the time being, I just don't have the fire in the gut that I had at one time.

Try QTH.com and then try ARRL.org to get started. It is a lot simpler than when I first got licensed in 1978.

Since I’ll have nothing else to do anyway, maybe I’ll hang up a red light.

The net has thousands of Amateur radio “ham” sites for basic beginners to seasoned operators who build, test, design and use their own electronic test equipment, radios and antennas...

I’m able to talk or listen coast to coast or intercontinental, and off the grid if desired, voice or CW.

From Alaska to Tasmania, Antarctica research stations to the Ukraine....To ham special events stations aboard the USS Iowa and many other museum war ships and other venues.

Not quite what you’d find in most people’s cell phone contact list.

Believe it or not, Continuous Wave (CW) otherwise known as Morse code, is a kick and can be very addicting...It enables people to communicate across this continent or intercontinental, with very low power and or just 12 volt batter power. Antennas can be made to be very stealthy.

BTW, CW is not required to pass a test.

You can go solar powered, off the grid, battery, house current in your car, using many modes...Go visit people on a fishing boat, floating in some small cove in a tiny south Pacific Island, or someone in a twin engine aircraft over Montana.

And getting started can be very inexpensive. Good for emergencies, great education tool, meeting new people and a lot of fun.

Well, I confess, I’m embarrassed to admit that I had not even known what a “Committee of Correspondence” is. I looked it up, and realized I had known of the function, if not the name.

Sister Mary Moses of The Burning Bush (All Lit Up) wants you to come to class tomorrow prepared to diagram that "sentence."

This brings up a parallel point that a couple of us discuss with some frequency.

Being players of the Fallout video games, we play in a nuke blasted scenario not unlike what would happen after a total collapse. It is course, a game. But is holds several solid truths.

One of them is that the average American today cannot start a fire without a match, much less do HAM/Morse code. They cannot build shelter. they would rip their own walls down to burn for fuel in the summer and freeze come winter...if they made it that long. In a Fallout/collapse scenario, that person is dead. Or he is sold/traded into slavery to the ferals/gangs for sex, work or food. (It’s people!)

My earlier joke about ordering pizza is exactly what many modern people would do. If the phone is dead, just go online. Never once thinking that the net is down too.

Most cannot cook, sew, do basic first aid/CPR, hate guns, have no experience with a knife, cannot use basic hand tools or know how to hunt or fish. No carpentry or mechanical/electrical skills outside plugging an HDMI cable into an HDMI socket.

My point? those that do have these skills will live. Perhaps even rule. In the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Yep, good points all.

Came across some lady a few months ago in a parking lot. Her electronic key lock entry button on her key ring no longer worked, she was locked out..Little battery probably dead...

She actually had called a tow truck for assistance. The tow driver had to show her she could use her key to physically unlock her door.

If the both the network and phones go down, I think I’ll take some time off and just enjoy the peace and quiet. Neaten up the garden. Get the pantry better organized. You know, do all the stuff I never seem to have time for when the work week is in the way.

If I get bored, I can always warmup the shortwave and listen to those old-timer hams in N. Carolina talking about their ailments and the best way to dig a pond (last I heard, the consensus was to pen some hogs in it. Somehow, they make it hold water better...)

Thats exactly the functional level that will get passed around the feral compound. they can carry things, have sex and serve ‘as’ dinner. They have no other usable skill in a collapse when time and the need for skill is paramount. They are a barrier to survival cutting into food and medical supplies while returning nothing. Time and resource must be spent bring them up to boy scout level of the basics.

In short, a burden. Sounds horrible, but it is what it is. In time they could be taught. time is the one thing that people in that scenario have least of. With all the things today we take for granted being done by machines, many will have to be done by hand...the ones we can still do.

Take farming. How long will a start up farm take in the off season? What can one expect to grow? What will one eat until enough farms go ‘online’ to be a stable community/compound resource?

things like that are the farthest consideration from the Kardashian mindset. And do they get passed around till dinner.
