How the GOP Establishment Won in Mississippi

Perhaps it was an echo of Obama's 2009 declaration to the GOP, "I won," or Stalin's observation that, "It's not the people who vote that count, it's the people who count the votes." Tonight's runoff between Chris McDaniel and has left me a little discouraged, but more than just a little bit angry.

I read a tweet from the NYT that history was made tonight when an elderly white Republican in Mississippi was bailed out by crossover votes from Black Democrats. Indeed, that is exactly what happenned.

Cochran won by roughly 7,000 vote. Hinds county, which includes the capital city of Jackson, is about 75% Democrat. Cochran's increase in voting strength in Hinds County was a net 7,000 votes. So how does it happen that so many more Democrats decided to cross over and vote in the Republican Primary?

1) Money "walking around" money, vote buying, and bussing Democrats in to vote in Republican Primaries.

2) Fear: A robo call went out stating “say no to the tea party. They hate the first black president... say no to the tea party by voting for Thad." The call was placed mainly to african americans in MS.

3) More Fear: This last ditch radio ad on election day was particularly disgusting.

The tactics of the establishment Republicans, including both the current and former Governor, have left a lasting and bitter taste with conservative Mississippians. It’s bad enough to hear that kind of rhetorical arson from the Leftists, but when our own Party calls us Racists and Extremists?

establishment republicans have gone too far. said he was going to crush the Tea Party. So he can sit back now, and say "I won." We will have to see if he can win in November if the Tea Party stays home. I don’t know about anyone else, but THIS Racist Tea-Party Bastard is going fishing the first week of November.

Fishing sounds damn good to me. If they win primaries with Democrats, they can win generals with Democrats. They dont need us, so why waste our time?

This douchebag has pulled out all stops to defeat the real conservative, only to ensure that he will lose the general election.

There is a flaw in the question: "our" party would not pull that crap to remain in power, now, would it?

Ergo, the MS GOP(e) isn't "our" party.

Know who the enemy is, and you have a better chance in any conflict. Conservatives have no friends in the GOPe.

Is it known whether it was Cochran or the dems doing the robo calls targeting dems? Both have an interest in sabotaging the tea party.

If you are asking whether or not there is a smoking gun connection, I don't know. The evidence of vote-buying is solid. The evidence of trolling for democrat votes is solid.
Interestingly enough, while the vote has not been certified, there is substantial evidence that many participants in this runoff voted in the June 3 Democrat Primary. As those votes are challenged, they will be thrown out. We will see if the fraud margin exceeds the margin of victory.

Off Topic but Jerry Moran and the Mississippi Republican Party dont have their messages blocked on facebook if want give them opinions on how they should proceed.

I guess they want to win as many races as possible. I think this could hurt Bill Cassidy in Louisiana. There is a good chance that the Republicans who vote for other candidates stay home.

He is not great but he is better than the TN Senators, MS Senators, KY Senators, maybe Boozman and Lindsey Graham.

Begin rant/

The GOp doesn’t much care. They are a pressure relief valve for the Democrats. ‘Lesser evil serves to give the impression of choice. The Dems move two steps left, the Republican offers to compromise and the dems move one step left. Net gain Dems. Many on the right feel the lesser evil saved them from the second step. but the plan was one step all along. And guess who made that one step possible? Thats right. Supporters of the GOP. Because it was his J o B to get you to play along ‘because the Dem is worse.

Ever see crabs trying to escape a boiling pot of water? One almost makes it and the others grab him and pull him back. Same behavior in GOP voting. One voter sees the fraud for what it is and a bunch attack him to pull him back onto the reservation.

You see it daily on FR and every other right wing site. Many of us can personally show you our post histories to prove the vitriol slung by the GOP crabs at those standing up for conservative values and principles. Perhaps it’s time to kick the idiot crabs in the head, get out of the pot and not go down for one big lie in order to ultimately help democrats wreck America.

Ronald Reagan’s GOP is gone. His spirit no longer guides it. His spirit lives with US. To support GOP2014 was proven tonight to be DIRECTLY supporting Democrat 2014. Thats the reality.

/end rant

Does anyone know the MS voting laws? Can voters there cast ballots in the general for a different party than what they voted for in the primaries?

Here in TX, we unfortunately have open primaries. However, AFAIK, people can’t switch from the party they voted in for the primary when they vote in the general.

If I’m right (and I welcome correction if I’m wrong), then such voting laws prevent primary crossover voters from voting for a different party in the general. ...Therefore, if a lot of Dems crossed over to vote for Thad in MS, they would not be permitted to vote for the Dem in the general.

If the people robo dialed were republicans, It probably doesn’t matter whether the actual callers were republican or democrat. The call lists had to come from the republicans so even if democrats did dialing, it was with the approval of the republican party officials.

This is a bellwether moment for Republicans, independent conservatives and any who want to preserve this Republic. Those who truly care about the direction of this country will set aside their personal goals and embrace the goals of preserving our country...our Constitution... I have not seen many on the GOPe side trying to do this...time to wake up.

I need to blow off some steam. So I just loaded up my 10 Wilson Combat Magazines and my two 10 round “Bureaucrat Magazines” and I’m gonna go to the range this morning and pop off a couple hundred rounds in my new Ruger SR1911 Commander to break it in.
