Everyone believes in "standards" don't they? So what could possibly be wrong with "Common Core" (the US education system's "Common Core State Standards Initiative")? After all, is it not "a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English... created to ensure that all students graduate from high school with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live"?*
Not according to Dr. Duke Pesta, professor of English at The University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, who joins us for an extended and detailed interview on the genesis, content and ideology of Common Core - a scheme, he argues, designed to inhibit critical thinking and produce a world of compliant drones for the corporate-fascist State.

We just got rid of “Common Core” in Oklahoma, through recent legislation. It has provisions in the bill that what we replace it with (in terms of setting some standards) cannot be simply a “renamed Common Core”. It must not have the same elements and it will be checked by the legislature to make sure of that.
The idea that one city can or should dictate education standards to 310 million very diverse people over millions of square miles is obscene.
Federal standards pretty much destroy anything they regulate.
Common Core sounds like Communist idea, of brain washing and reeducation without anyone knowing
That’s been the goal since Dewey cooked up the pubic education system.
..control the testing, control the curriculum ...
