I'm a Life Member.
The impact of what NRA does appears greater than the membership would indicate. When NRA is credited with blocking Algore’s presidential aspirations, I'd give the association high marks.

That is, until some criminals bought one and blew open a vault.

...and because a “criminal” bought one, honest folks are now denied. Kind of reminds me of NFA 1934.

Crooks and gangsters were doing each other in with machine guns, so why not deny honest folks the ability to do in gangsters. We the congress will just make it difficult for law abiding citizens to have unimpeded access to the weapon that was sure to assist in the demise of gangsters having already proven it’s value in that respect on Valentine’s day.

One might ask what on God’s green earth does that have to do with bad gun law that originates with the Congress. You know the kind that “Shall not be infringed” covers.

I’ll give them credit for safety, training, and general focal point on hunting and gun issues, but how am I supposed to factor in fence sitting on the really tough issues of “Shall not be infringed”, and endorsement of Democrats who fundamentally take issue with gun ownership by the citizenry?

***Kind of reminds me of NFA 1934.***

You realize that Congress had planned to put handguns on their list alongside the machine guns, don’t you? It was the old 1934 NRA that got them off the list and that is why we can still buy them today.

Years later, Handgun Control Inc had hoped to ban all handguns by 1978.

I suppose it is difficult to argue with half a loaf is better than the whole loaf or no loaf, but through compromise even the half a loaf is being assaulted, so the slow encroachment has now proven to be a bad policy IMHO. IOW instead of our generation having all weapons outlawed, if falls to the next generation. Slow or fast infringement still gets you to infringement.

There are some things that if compromised will eventually lead to your worst nightmare and governments from A to Z have been a part of the worst nightmares in history. governments like corporations, are people, and people are the instruments in the hands of the enemy of our Creator to wreak havoc while they are still able.

Attempts at compromise, with those who do not understand “Rights” as they come from the Creator and Common Law, and who seek perhaps unknowingly the destruction of personal responsibility for self protection, will only result in heartbreak, misery, slavery and death sooner or later, “what difference does it make”.
