The increase in police brutality in this country is a frightening reality. In the last decade alone the number of people murdered by police has reached 5,000. The number of soldiers killed since the inception of the Iraq war, 4489.
What went wrong? In the 1970’s SWAT teams were estimated to be used just a few hundred times per year, now we are looking at over 40,000 military style “knock and announce” police raids a year.
The problem of police militarization is a legitimate threat to the very fabric of a free society.
We are now witnessing the horrible manifestations of this standing army that has been built up around us in the name of throwing people in cages for their personal choices.
Innocent children are now being caught in the violent fodder that is the War on Drugs.
This problem has been staring us right in the face for a long time and up until now, has been being largely ignored.
However, the elephant in the living room has caused so much damage that even the mainstream media is now being forced to cover it.
Because of people out there like you, that share these atrocious stories of police violence, this conversation is being forced into the public debate.
Below is the materialization of your refusal to remain silent in the face of tyrants, give yourself a pat on the back!

Yeah everyone likes to crap on the “war on drugs” as useless and causing more harm then not. But if you think legalization is the answer you need only look to the Middle East. Most islamic fighting groups are financed by drug sales. They are not going to give that revenue source up. Then take Mexico. Without the drug money that the cartels bring in that country would hardly exist.. So be careful what you wish for. You just might get it
The militarization of our police is but a symptom of our sick society.
What else could we expect as our nation has abandoned God, ignored our Constitution and our cultural values, embraced islamism, accepted totalitarianism, and each and every social illness and perversion known to man.
No knock dynamic entries are just armed home invasions under the color of law.
You’re looking at it wrong — there is no “legalization” because the federal government does not have the legitimate authority to make it illegal in the first place!
Take Prohibition as a precedent: a constitutional amendment was requires to allow the fedgov to regulate alcohol — where is the corresponding amendment to allow the War on Drugs?
All you say is true, but legalization would make the profits from some of that trade approximately zero.
Now, I know that there are different drugs in question here, and there are different degrees of dangerousness for the different drugs. The Islamic groups are selling poppies and heroin; the Mexican cartels are supermarkets. So, legalizing pot wouldn't completely eliminate their revenue sources.
It takes gobs and gobs of taxpayer revenue to imprison non-violent drug offenders who are convicted for only possession/use. Instead of legalization, perhaps the drug laws should be reformed to one extent or another?

Nor did it make them less violent. The militarization of the police has been driven by the increasing militancy, and heavily arming of the gangs.
The WOD is the reason for the incredible amount of money going to cartels and terrorists. The WOD automatically creates a market where these things are artificially worth more than gold!
Without prohibition or taxation, there would be too little money for criminals to stay in the business. It would become a legal business that requires hard work for small profits.
The true market value of pot is somewhere near basil. Cocaine’s true cost is about the same as caffeine powder. Criminals would not waste their time with such low profits. Just like booze became a legal nonviolent industry practically overnight after alcohol prohibition.
We gave violent criminals a billion dollar industry on a platter and now they are buying every government on the planet to maintain their protection racket. Agents of the US Government are obviously protecting and aiding the Sinaloa Cartel.

No, they just went into other banned things like gambling and illegal drugs.
I drove by one of the Cherokee Nation offices a few weeks back. They have an MRAP. There aren’t many “heavily armed gangs” using IEDs made from old 152mm arty rounds in Tahlequah and Muskogee. They don’t need an MRAP and their acquisition of one was not driven by crime.

If just one member of congress was a true patriot, he or she would introduce legislation making the requirements for obtaining “no knock” warrants more than just some snitch trying to get a lighter sentence. The evidence must be overwhelming before jackbooted thugs are allowed to kick a door in and throw a flash grenade into a baby’s crib.
And if it’s determined the wrong address was “attacked” and the homeowner kills some cops, no charges should be filed.
Finally, if something goes awry over faulty information or “gung ho” attitudes, every member of the swat team should serve jail time.

below market cost and crime has not slowed one single percent. State tax profits also have dropped.
Could you demonstrate anywhere that legalizing drugs have lowered crime?
Because that is exactly what you are implying.
The issue is the attitude of WOD. While I’m opposed to legalizing drugs, that doesn’t mean that any tactic or effort to fight drugs is then justified.
This military crap is getting worse than the problem. And it isn’t even curing the disease.
