My daughter’s husband travels frequently. The bedrooms for her and the three grand daughters are upstairs.
At night, her Doberman (Kingston, he can be mean if his family is threatened) and a Shepherd/Pit Bull mix (Bowser who is afraid of anything - even a ceiling fan) sleep with her or the hallway at the top of the stairs.
Both of the dogs are there to bark and alert her in time to get to the GunVault bolted to the night stand and access the S&W 686 or the 625 she keeps in it.
