On the other hand, the fact that New Jersey does not recognize the permits of its neighbor states is (frankly) stupid--right up there with the REST of their draconian gun laws! Just from my own experience, Kansas had reciprocity agreements with all of its neighbors even before it chose last year to honor all CCWs. That kind of "gun law" just makes sense. If you want to push for "sensible gun laws," that is the first place to start, quickly followed by national CCW reciprocity.
But are the Moms and Mayors going to do that? Of course not.
Of course, without knowing the story it’s premature to lump this particular single mother into that category. There are more ways to become a single mother than just not getting married first.
“She’ll rot in jail just so preening soccer moms can pat themselves on the back.”
This sums it up pretty good.
If she had also been an Illegal Alien then they would have let her go.
Miss Allen is the victim of a crime against the Constitution. Perpetrator is the State of New Jersey.
Also, in another account of this story that I read earlier today, she was pulled over for an unsafe lane change. I noticed one thing right away when I started driving with a gun in my truck....I became the most calm, courteous, law-abiding driver on the road.
I wonder if by breaking the law, they would decline future renewal of the CCW permit.
Should have said she was going to her gay wedding
“She should know exactly which states have reciprocation with PA”
How often should one check? Daily, weekly or monthly? This information is not major news.
I have Florida CCW so I could carry when traveling to PA, PA honored it when I received it but decided to not honor a few months after I received it for some political nonsense. After hearing this from a friend I checked, he was correct.
NJ doesn't recognize any state's permit.
In most states, having a CHL requires that you inform the officer at a traffic stop. In Texas, you are required to give them your CHL with your driver’s license.
I don’t want to see this woman go to jail, but she should have checked NJ laws before traveling into the state. Responsible gun owners do not make assumptions about the law.
In reality any requirement for licensing or registration is a clear infringement upon our Second Amendment rights. So is any law limiting the right to carry a weapon.
Chocolate milk through the nose!
Bingo.
“How often should one check? Daily, weekly or monthly? This information is not major news.”
It is your duty to know the local laws when you use your FL CCW (LTCH in Indiana) license. I’m sure all the states have that verbiage somewhere in their disclaimers. Utah made it part of the training course.
Every time you are leaving your state, you should be looking at reciprocation maps. I always use two sources, just to confirm.

It makes my blood boil that this woman is in jail.
As a New Yorker, I want to remind free state Americans that when you cross the border into places like NY, NJ, CT, MA, MD, you are for all intents and purposes leaving America and entering a foreign country, where rights and common sense are rare and insane laws are many.
I would suggest organizing a boycott of NJ, until the charges are dismissed, but I honestly can’t think of a single reason an out of stater would want to visit that sinkhole anyway.

It’s accurate.
