On July 24th, Dr. Lee Silverman, a Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital Psychiatrist from Darby, Pennsylvania saved the lives of uncounted hospital workers and patients by shooting Richard Plotts, a mentally disturbed patient and felon. While in Silverman’s office, Plotts pulled a hidden gun and killed Theresa Hunt, a 53 year old hospital caseworker who had accompanied Plotts to Dr. Silverman’s office. Upon the shot being fired by Plotts, Silverman ducked behind his desk, pulled a pistol he keeps in a drawer and returned fire, hitting Plotts three times and ending the criminal’s would-be killing spree. Plotts was in critical condition and undergoing surgery on Thursday night.
“Without a doubt, I believe the doctor saved lives,” said Donald Molineux , Chief of the Yeadon Police Dept.
“Without that firearm, this guy (the patient) could have went out in the hallway and just walked down the offices until he ran out of ammunition.”
So Dr. Silverman is a HERO, right? Well, maybe not so much. This is how Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital officials responded...

Frankly, I couldn’t give a damn about the police chief not using the correct grammar. By publicly praising the doctor as a hero, he did the absolutely right thing, something a lot of PC police chiefs wouldn’t have even thought of doing. He also did a huge favor for those of us who despise “gun free” zones as the victim free fire zones they actually are.
“Cue the Drum Roll and wait for when some Hospital in Texas makes Dr S and offer so delicious he picks up stakes and moves... “
Hospitals in Texas are one of the listed places where carrying of a weapon is prohibited by the CHL regulations.
The hospitals even have the “ no firearms allowed” signage.
I would bet that some doctors play by the “ better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6 philosophy.
We should all follow that unwritten rule.....

Correct, Delaware County, PA. The Biden reference was to connect the ‘Delaware’ with brainless twits, with the idiots pillorying this man for relying on his Constitutional rights to self defense.
But...but the killer was a convicted felon. He’s not ALLOWED to have a gun. How can this be?

Long and short of it: he's alive because he IGNORED the hospital policy and protected himself and others around him - he exercised his most basic HUMAN, civil, and Constitutional right to defend himself with the most expedient tool ever devised.
The patient sure as hell didn't care about a "gun free" policy. Now, the other side will shift the argument as to HOW he obtained a firearm if he was a mental patient.
Very sad that one innocent person died - BUT the doctor interdicted what could have been a mass slaughter.
He is indeed a hero.
Take a lesson folks - gun free zones AREN'T. Be armed, be discreet, and stay alive.
Good for the Miami cops. I live in an unincorporated area about 22 miles from downtown Knoxville, TN. If there’s a crime, it’s likely the Sheriff’s police will make it to the scene in 10 or 20 minutes. That pretty well leaves it up to us residents to take of our own security by exercising our 2d Amendment rights. The last time my house was burgled was in 1995, shortly before TN adopted shall issue CCW. We’ve not had a single case in Knox County in the 27 years I’ve been here when a homeowner or renter has been prosecuted for killing a burglar. Funny how well the 2d Amendment works when the authorities just let freedom ring!

- I am seeing that the black Police Chief in Detroit Michigan has encouraged private citizens to legally purchase firearms and get good firearms training including safety, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- He moved from the West Coast to a city in Maine where he became Police Chief; he saw that private citizens with firearms cut the violent crime rate and he is now seeing the same results in Detroit.
- Let’s give this good man applause and encourage and support him.
- Sorry - I did not jot down his name - he should have a great future and I am sure the local citizens appreciate the opportunity to take advantage of the 2nd Amendment and are no longer disarmed by the local political radical progressive NAZIS that ride in Limos they pay for and have dozens of heavily armed bodyguards.
