See, my opinion is that if I don’t cheat in games, then I don’t have fun. I enjoy “winning” overwhelmingly, no shame if I use level 20 character beating a lvl 10 in story mode. But that was just a distraction to the point I was trying to make in my #55 comment to you.

And your example of gay marriage/gay rights movement is grasping. Gay rights movement and same sex marriage moved beyond people’s choice. It was thrust down our throats despite overwhelming objections.

It’s not winning if you cheated, it’s just being willing to sit there long enough to “finish”. Winning is accomplishing something. Rosie Ruiz didn’t win anything, she just got to the finish line.

Gay rights hasn’t moved beyond people’s choice. The people HAVE chosen, the mushy middle that really run this country have been swayed and now align with the gays, whom they used to think were kind of icky and weird.

Except the emotion is shrill and does win. Look at the last two elections. Look at the global warming debate. Look at the Pipeline debate. Look at the immigration debate.

We have a government comprised of dems who exist because of shrill emotion and emotion in general. (War on women meme in addition to the above) and a GOP that fed on fear to push Romney and the rest of the liberal wing. Remember all the crap around the last election? Also consider that Cochran is a result of GOP shrill emotionalism, or just emotionalism period.

Emotion has no place in fact based debate. In traducing it always leads to emotional, not fact based outcomes...thus the world we live in. Emotion does have a place. We are human afterall (most of us anyway) But not when expecting logical outcomes.

No it isn’t. Shrill turns people off. Yes look at the last two elections, especially 2008. Hilary was shrill, she lost. Paul, Gingrich, Bachman, all shrill, all lost. Obama ran in 2008 on the blandest campaign slogan in forever, won. Keystone pipeline again shows my point, it keeps getting built. Illegal immigration again shows my point, we keep being shrill on that and nothing continues to be done to fix it. Look also at global warming, people got bored with the shrill, even the people that believe in it are getting tired of the noise.

Shrill gets money in the campaign coffers, but it doesn’t get the votes. The war on women meme AGAIN shows my point, they NEVER manage to change anything.

Emotion is a useful driving force, it engages people, it inspires them. And not everybody is really into facts, but you can still sway them with positive emotion. Shrill just turns people off. It’s one of the things driving people away from TV news right now, it’s nothing but yelling and shout downs, it’s uninteresting to anybody that’s not one of the converted, and even many of the converted find it just a loud echo chamber. Peaceful presentation gets less headlines, but it really is what sways people. The very things you’ve pointed to show that.

Nonsense. You've bought Zoe Quinn and her little army of c-bots characterization of her detractor's as if it were factual. It's like saying that because Democrats claim there's a "Republican War on Women" and it's echoed in the press, while our denials are never aired, there must actually be one.

And as for who lost whose cool first? I think you'd better recheck your facts, because there is no doubt whatsoever that that was Zoe Quinn and company.

I’ve read the posts. It was needlessly abusive language that played right into the stereotypes and right into her defense.
