A CBS analyst on Monday specifically linked the outbreak of Ebola that has decimated parts of Africa and has been newly found in the United States to climate change.
Talking to "CBS This Morning," Dr. David Agus explained how to keep yourself and your children safe, as well as symptoms of the deadly disease...
The interview was going normally, until Dr. Agus was asked, "So we have the Ebola virus in Africa and we now have this virus. What's going on?"
This was his response:
“Well, the world is flat. Right now, anybody can get on a plane and end up anywhere in this country and spread these viruses. And we have to be aware of it. We don't know exactly why there was a dramatic spread this year. But something is happening now. We have multiple viruses. And together with global climate change, things are changing in the virus world and we have to pay attention.How exactly climate change has anything to do whatsoever with the Ebola virus was not explained, and the interview ended right after he said this. Oddly, the CBS analysts did not question the statement and treated it as fact that, yes, the Ebola outbreak was, at the very least, partially caused by climate change.
