We support a lot of allies with arms and troops, despite the fact that life would be a lot simpler if we simply remained neutral. No NATO, no chance of nuclear conflagration with Russia. No Taiwan, no threats of nuclear annihilation of LA by Chinese generals. No mutual security pact with South Korea and Japan, no back-and-forth with China vis-a-vis its impending territorial expansion in the region.
