Why is The GOP Embracing the Overvalued ‘Youth’?

It’s very clear by observing the state of our nation that the Republican Party is on the wrong track. Not just because our so-called leaders are looking after themselves and their personal self interests. That’s been the theme for decades.

No, another major reason is their belief that embracing the priorities of the “youth” is a ticket to electoral success and it's NOT.

“The youth gave us Obama twice, not because they researched and scrutinized his past experience, but because they wanted to be a part of history the first time and couldn’t bring themselves to admit they were wrong and elected him the second. THAT is the youth’s immediate legacy and we’re all paying for the unearned self-importance they display to this day.”

Yep. ALL of the kids need to get OUT of the Sandbox. It’s time for the Grown-ups to clean things up and LEAD for a change.

Oh, I’m not expecting it to happen - just a Daydream of mine...

P.S. LOVE ‘Black & Blonde.’ Read them ALL the time.

i have a nephew who’s doing very well in real estate management in Manhattan.
He told me last week he wants to work at a music studio instead because that is his real love.
He is 27 and his father died three years ago.
He said his father would want him to chase his dream.
I said “no, you’re father would say you’re 27, time to grow up.”

They’re flailing around trying to find a way to win without the TEA Party, true social conservatives, pro-Israel and anti-communist voters. So they’re chasing a Chimera.

Figure out the characteristics of the Party's base -- then go after that base. Secondarily, try to convince other groups, like -- let's say -- the youth, and try to convince them that they should also be part of the party's base.

OR

Throw the Party's base under the bus, abandon all your principles, and chase after the young people who are guaranteed to vote for Hillary.

Exactly. I know people that STILL have their adult children living with them. Nothing makes me sadder...

It’s madness! If ONE of our candidates could articulate a solid Conservative message, we wouldn’t have to worry about Hillary! ever again.

The 26th Amendment gave us a permanent Leftist voting bloc: the Stupid College-age Brat.

The one that does is “toast” according to half the overwrought posters here.

Conservatives vote for conservative candidates.

Liberals vote for liberal candidates.

You really can’t separate the person’s ideology from their vote.

That’s why all this talk about one-issue voting is baloney.

“Women vote for a candidate based on the candidate’s view on abortion.”

Nope. Liberal women vote for liberal candidates.

That is bad. But it usually goes back to the parents at least a little.
My BIL, God bless, served in Vietnam and was a great guy. But a little too easygoing.
My sister keeps saying my nephew will land on his feet.
No one wants to tell their children the harsh truth anymore for fear of upsetting their delicate souls.
Good grief.
The kid lives on his own at least, but i fear he will drift through life...

Yep. I ignore them. I don’t even engage them in conversation, anymore.

Same with those that don’t like ‘we wimins’ in the military, LOL! It ain’t braggin’ if you can do it! ;)

I thank God every DAY for the family that raised me. I was out of the nest at 17 and never looked back. And I LOVE my parents and sibling - it’s not like I was running away from anything; I just had a great springboard to jump from, thanks to good parenting.

It’s a rare, RARE talent these days.

P.S. None of my kids live with me, either. It was, ‘18 and OUT, Boys!’

good for you!!
I’m going to have to be more firm with my nephew even if it causes him to resent me a little.

Because they are poll driven plutocrats trying to position themselves in front of the parade, instead of leading and attracting people to the power of their message.

"Why is The GOP Embracing the Overvalued ‘Youth’?"

Because it's not called the Stupid Party for nothing. Instead of reaching out to younger Americans, they're trying to pander to them...which they'll see right through. The "40 under 40" plan is now and has always been nothing but pandering.

Conservatives need to learn how to communicate to younger Americans. That means using media like music, movies, video games, professional sports...you know, the things that young Americans pay attention to. Yes, that means those two words stodgy old conservative dinosaurs hate the most...pop culture.

Hate to break it to you, dino-conservatives...no one under the age of 30 reads newspapers anymore. None of them, except for maybe some of the young fogy Washington DC types we see on Fox News, have any clue as to what the Heritage Foundation is or what they do. None know who (or give a damn who) Ed Rollins or New Gingrich are. It's not because they're old, it's because they're completely incapable of communicating with those people who are going to be running the country for the next 50 years. They're running off the Reagan Era playbook, which worked at the time, before education and Hollyweird could dumb us down so completely. But it doesn't work now, because young people are totally wrapped up in pop culture and technology.

Conservatives need to take their message and wrap it in a package that Generation.com will open...which means it has to have a heavy metal or hip-hop beat.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

McConnel and Boehner shows what the RNC thinks about the base. They hate us. They hate conservatives. And the bald face lies about repealing Obamacare and topping his agenda are beyond the typical spin and lies of any politician.
