Kennedy wrote that four principles “demonstrate that the reasons marriage is fundamental under the Constitution apply with equal force to same-sex couples.”
“The first premise of this Court’s relevant precedents is that the right to personal choice regarding marriage is inherent in the concept of individual autonomy… A second principle in this Court’s jurisprudence is that the right to marry is fundamental because it supports a two-person union unlike any other in its importance to the committed individuals,” he said.
“A third basis for protecting the right to marry is that it safeguards children and families and thus draws meaning from related rights of childrearing, procreation, and education,” and current marriage laws “harm and humiliate the children of same-sex couple.” Plus, the justice added, the right to marry is not “less meaningful for those who do not or cannot have children.”

Since the SCOTUS and especially the Chief Justice have determined that “words do not mean what you always thought they meant, anyway”, the gates are down and the horses are stampeding away.
“Equal protection” is sort of a dead letter, because what provides protection to one part of the constituency, does so at the very clear disadvantage of another part of the constituency. The thing that should be sought is not “equality”, but “equity”, the protection of the interests ALREADY invested by one part or another in a dispute.
Just as there is no such thing as “getting even” in any dispute between two entities. One side is always a little further “ahead” than the other, and equity is never achieved.
In the end, states are going to have to move to marriage contracts and away from licenses. They can define that a Marriage contract is between to Adult people only. Officiating weddings is over and marriage is a church is voluntary and completely protected by the first amendment.

In the 70's the father of my best friend in high school queered out on him. All of a sudden there were queer men in their house and lots of queer parties. These were pretty wealthy people so I suppose to not rock the boat my friends mom basically zoned out on the matter and started drinking a lot.
These folks had a big house so soon it became the place where they had big parties. I met queers (their term) that seemed like regular guys, flaming homosexuals that were an affront to my ears and eyes, muscled out leather clad dudes that were actually pretty scary. I was 16 and all these men hit on me. One got his a$$ kicked when he put his hands where they should not have been.
I loved the big homo parties. I would wait until these guys were all good and drunk then ask a question that mirrors what you posted. I'd say to them" OK, you put yourself in the back side of some other guy then he puts that in his mouth, basically you like to eat $hit". Their immediate reaction would always be the same, they would talk about love and relationships and butterflies and such garbage. My response would once again be "but you eat $hit". This always got me thrown out of the parties.
My friend's dad decided that he wanted to be in business with a couple of his new homo buddies so he started a business in the Montrose area of Houston. Because of this over the time of 2 years I literally met 100's of queer men. I found them to be the most self-loathing and self-destructive humans on the planet. They were all a mess. every last one of them. An oh, they stole a lot of money from my friend's father. Another story.
During this time I was able to listen in on some of the conversations between the early radical "ACT UP" types. They didn't care that I listened to them, I honestly think they thought they could turn me to their way of life. What I learned is that they have a plan, I also learned what is their kryptonite. Their plan was to infiltrate the media and government and push their agenda by pushing the emotional things they had in common with people that were not sick and insane like themselves. They would talk about love and emotion and the things queers and straights have in common (again, their language). What they wanted to NEVER talk about is what they do physically. That was and is their kryptonite. The queer folk are so sensitive about what they do to each other they never want it spoken about. Back then all they could do was to get pissed at you if you asked them about the "poop" question. Today, since they have indeed infiltrated the media and government they will simply ruin your life. Over the years they have become the thing they said all the straight people were, fascists.
Today, after decades the homosexuals have been given what they wanted. The noisy 1%-2% of the population have achieved their victory. It won't change a thing inside of them, they will still be self-loathing and self-destructive people. They will still be oddities. Now they have a very big problem and one I recognized decades ago, the only way for many of them to be normal is for the rest of us to be abnormal. That math does not work and never will. At the end of the day this "victory" is hollow and now the "gay" community will find that they can nor more make us them as Bruce Jenner can become a woman. I myself find that sad in a way but funny too because I have met so many of them.
For the immediate future and for a time the 1%-2% will become louder than ever. That is OK with me, my response will be "what's your problem? you got what you wanted". The reality is that they will NEVER get what they want and that is to be normal. Why not? because the rest of us won't literally eat $hit even though they got the United States Supreme Court to eat some.

I think Homosexuality is part of a depressive syndrome. They have higher rates of other destructive behaviors, like tobacco use, drug addiction, rampant promiscuity, alcoholism, porn addiction.
