About a month ago my wife and I visited Reagan's home in Dixon, IL which is only about an hour from where I live.
There was a DVD playing in the guest center that was titled something like "Reagan's Best Lines" or something like that.
I stood there and watched that entire DVD, smiling from ear to ear as I did. Brought back such good memories. Wish I had bought the DVD.

At the end of the day we know what Reagan advocated for (as stated), and what Congress advocated for.
Reagan’s vision was superior. That’s just a fact. They were on the record.
I think there’s some take-away here for both parties, but I have to give Reagan the clear nod, because his vision was so far superior.
Vision will get you only so far when fighting 525 plus wanna-be presidents on Capital hill, one of which was Piere La Pew, Johnny Boy McCain.

He fears destruction of “the Reagan Coalition”. Pray tell, who might be the leaders of THAT group? Can you name those august personages? John Boner and Linda Grahamnesty?
He also is apparently looking for a “Movement Conservative” to pop out of the woodwork and save us from Trump. IMHO, Ted Cruz was about as close to my estimate of a Movement Conservative as one might find these days.
Then his clay feet became visible. Voted for the Corker amendment. Proposed increasing the influx of H1b immigrants. Voted for Obama’s fast track boondoggle. I don’t think there’s a true Movement Conservative in the mold of one of the Founders on the planet today.
Being a realist, I recognize Trump, even with his impurities, as the only one in the running today that has a prayer of saving our Nation. Also, I’m still hanging with Cruz, in soite of HIS imperfections. But Trump MUST be in the lead. Because Trump has at least two qualities which our candidate MUST have, which even Cruz does NOT have.
Trump’s camaign is self financing. No donors or lobbyists needed. And Trump has the backbone, the gestaldt, the chops to break up the CORRUPT BASTARDS CLUB in Washington, DC; to borrow a phrase from Sarah Palin, and turn our Nation around.
Meaningless juxtaposition of Reagan and Trump.
No mention of the 60’s (other than Goldwater), no mention of Jimmy Carter and the ‘malaise’, no mention of GHB’s betrayal.
No mention of the collapse of the Democratic party’s political center following Bill Clinton, and the growth of Liberal Progressivism.
Today’s RINO-Left were yesterday’s Democratic center and the line remaining from RINO-Left to RINO-Right is stretched pretty thin.
Trump will have a harder time than Reagan did shoring up their respective ‘coalitions’, but he’ll do it if he can bring 20% of the black vote to the conservative side.
Just go over to the Wikipedia and look at the comparisons between each President’s ‘misery index’. Reagan took us from 21% 1981 too 7% 1986.
True. Reagan was bad on immigration in general. He had a sentimental, Kennedy-like view of America as “nation of immigrants.” He never expressed any concern for preserving the traditional ethnic character of the country.
This article is dishonest about the history of the conservative movement. Racial issues were the main reason why Southerners and “ethnic” Northern voters became Republicans during the 1970’s. Democrats were seen as the party of busing, anti-white discrimination and black crime. Many conservatives today are in deep denial about this. They want to believe that blue collar workers became conservatives because of free trade and low capital gains taxes.
Like I said, you don’t get it. You and the GOPe pundits.
Unless you WIN, the "experience" doesn't help, and in Walker's case, even when you win, you need to show that you can ratchet up that state-level victory to national concerns (which he certainly has not done).
But I'm just suggesting what I've heard some here in middle America tell me. Who knows? Something explains his 4-8% ditch, which he can't seem to get out of.

Just curious. Are you a law unto yourself or do you participate in society like the rest of us? I ask this because, one way or the other, we will have a President in 2016. Cruz is a good man. If he becomes President one day, he may prove to be an effective leader. Some of us think the same thing about Trump. No, he’s not perfect, but many of us think he has a unique leadership ability, that on the whole would lead to an effective and mostly positive outcome if he were President.
Those in Congress understood that you couldn't keep doing this type of thing again and again. It wasn't intended to serve as a springboard for future amnesties.
And the '86 amnesty proved to be a complete bust that wound up making things even worse.
