Yes, McConnell should be the next to step down but he won’t.

Getting rid of Boehner is a little sign of progress but its hard to be optimistic until McConnell goes. He is a political coward.

Exactly. This has got to be a package deal. He’s the GOPe’s bagman number 2 and will still carry out his orders even without Boner.

Kudos to the enemy GOP rebels for pushing for the ouster.

Resignation is not enough. Boehner and McConnell both belong in prison.

No offense to the Irish taken, the Turtle has been excommunicated by all right thinking Irish.

For one thing, he doesn’t fight.

Until enough GOP senators get some gonads like Cruz to jeapordize McTurtle’s majority, He will sit there fat, dumb and happy.

No, bug eyed dough boy will not withdraw unfortunately. With Bonehead gone, number one and number two two faced turd gone from the leadership in a few years.

Did someone on the side of the Constitution find the same dirt on Boehner that Obama has been using?

McConnell will not go. The Senate Republicans as a group are much more liberal than the House and the Senate behaves like a club where friendships are important. It is a patrician organization where “civility” rules except when Harry Reid is in charge.

The House moved on Boehner because representatives stand for election every two years. The GOP rank and file is disgusted with the leadership and are extremely vocal with their representatives. Likely a number of GOP Congressmen and women are fearing a conservative challenger and don’t want to become another Eric Kantor. Boehner is taking a bullet for the team. The RINO’s now hope the base will be satisfied with the sacrifice and they can go back to business as usual.

Don’t feel sorry for Boehner. He no longer has power but is about to become a very wealthy man. He’ll join a prestigious law or lobbying firm as a partner and have a staff of young Harvard and Yale associates to do his work. He’ll be trotted out once in a while for appearances and handshaking. He’ll enjoy his condo on Marco Island where he can play plenty of golf with retired corporate CEO’s. He’ll be given two or three lucrative corporate board assignments. As long as he doesn’t have a Hastert problem in his background, he will lead a very enjoyable life far away from his Ohio district. Plus any campaign fund surplus becomes his personal play money. Not to mention the big fat Congressional pension.

As to the Senate, it will take a Hastert revelation or criminal charge from the Justice Department to get McConnell to resign. Senators are elected for 6 year terms and only 1/3 of the Senate is up for reelection next year. Obama and the Dems want McConnell in place. The Chamber of Commerce wants him in place. The RINO powers of the Senate are his supporters - McCain, Graham, Cornyn, Alexander, Hatch, Corker, Murkowski, Collins. There are only a few outliers (Lee, Cruz, Cotton, Sessions, Scott) who might vote to push him out. Even if McConnell went, he’d be replaced by a RINO just as bad. John Cornyn, after all, is the GOP Whip in the Senate and currently #2 in the pecking order.

It will be interesting to see who emerges as Speaker. I’m guessing another establishment figure. If so the House will go back to business as usual and Boehner’s resignation will have served no purpose other than to defang the House conservatives. No way will the House conservatives work to dethrone a new Speaker during the 2016 election year, even if he is a carbon copy of Boehner. They’ll be too busy raising money and campaigning. Boehner leaving may actually be a victory for the establishment.
