Auto sales in the U.S. for September came in at their highest monthly level since 2005 according to Autodata, displaying strength in a major consumer category. Yet according to new survey, the rise in popularity of ride-sharing app Uber is already having a significant impact on customer attitudes towards the purchase of new cars.
The survey, conducted by research-based consulting firm Magid Advisors and shared exclusively with CNBC, found that among 2,400 respondents, Uber usage has grown from 4 percent in 2014 to 17 percent in 2015.
The car sharing service was the third most commonly used "new company" on the survey's list — beating out businesses like Shazam,Fitbit, Square, Airbnb and Periscope by a wide margin....

You’re wrong. Liberals HATE Uber, AirBnb, and the sharing economy. It represents freedom of choice, and there is nothing they despise more. If someone wants to save a few bucks besides Uber instead of buying a car, why should you care?
Liberals hate Uber because it threatens the taxi monopoly. Those “working class slobs” (often immigrants) pay upwards of a million dollars for a medallion for the hood of their car so they can legally operate in New York City.
It’s more of a “union” thing.
Funny thing is a good number of those who heavily promote Uber (and many talk hosts do including Michael Medved encouraging people to drive for them, personal safety be damned) are paid to do so. Kim Commando, Michael Medved, Hugh Hewitt...
Whatever happened to LYFT? You DO know that there was a rival service that BOTH appeared about the same time. Uber got all of the press but if you were on social media you would’ve seen the promo codes for each at many events. Sometimes it was exclusively Lyft if they were an official sponsor of an event.
And I know plenty of libs who are happy about using Uber in their vacation travels or to crowded events.
Drive your own car for true freedom of movement.

If your car is newer than about ten years you can already be tracked. In fact, I’m guessing that in the not so distant future road taxes, license fees, etc will be set and paid based upon your driving miles per year. It’s coming.....
People have to own and operate their own vehicles for services like Uber to work. Libs, of course, fail to overlook that or rationalize it away with pretzel logic while they use the service.
Car = freedom
Uber = restrictions
Uh, because not everyone lives in urbanized areas, despite your wishes to herd the populace into government housing.

I do drive my own car. But sometimes I travel. Uber is fantastic.
The latest radio ads trying to get drivers to sign up say that Uber will help you buy a car to drive for them.
Funny how they don’t make their ‘gun free zone’ policy something they note in the ads.
Cab driving is a dangerous business. And my understanding is that even passengers cannot be armed even when it is legal to do so. Gay couples kissing in the backseat can’t be denied a ride but a legal gun owner can.
