Yep...They went off the rails a while ago. Not much of a group anymore.

Whoah, really?
I never heard of them till last spring, I heard of them through Frank Gaffney, someone there asked them a question, and that person put down ferk, nerk

the spokesman stuck up for them

one of Jacki’s friends spoke ILL of ferk, though, and I think she has great sources

I am not in the industry anymore, i was just a turbine engine mech for a while, so I was never on the nuke side

So, EMPact America , just a money grabber group? legit speakers or two political? not aggressive enough?
all about me?

That must have been Peter Pry ragging on FERC and NERC.

THey seem to have the right idea but I seem to recall there was something about buying a warehouse in upstate new york and filling it with food.

Did some work at Kirtland AFB in the 90’s with the HPD II and ARES. It’s harder to fry stuff than some folks think.

Although not EMP related, we hit a car with high power microwaves and all it did was wipe out the radio presets.

Most Generators are generally well protected from extreme voltage spikes. This is probably due to the fact that the relays are analog and are site specific.

I have seen some massive voltage spikes, lighting hitting a 345kv line. These will take a unit out in 1/2 a cycle.

The real problem is the conversion of units to electronic control systems. Made life a lot easier but aux power is drawn off of secondary sources that is not as well protected and possess the potential to cause a few problems.

“It’s harder to fry stuff than some folks think.”

We really don’t know what the impact will be. There are too many variables to simulate, and testing may or may not represent real-world type scenarios.

We DO know that there are many vulnerabilities and some percentage of them will cause failures.

We’re slowly working to remedy this.
