Yeah, it’s funny how quickly the left will abandon their own.
Their “gender-unit” leader (no kidding, that’s really what they call it) is just as much a critic of Guantanamo as everyone else at Amnesty. But she brought embarrassment to them, and so she had to go.
That was ironic in that she was trying to save them from embarrassment.
Before that happened, you could say that Amnesty International’s members were simply naive. You couldn’t blame them all for what may be, to some, a lesser-known policy of the main organization. But after that, when it made the papers, it became much harder for its members to claim ignorance. Those members of Amnesty who really did oppose torture had left.
After 2010, whenever an Amnesty International supporter claims to oppose torture, I always assume they’re lying.
